Tubeless tires on riveted rims - fix for slow leaks

    Just thought I'd share this......

I have some old wheels where the centers are riveted to the rims. Most times, these will leak if you run tubeless tires and that has been the case with a set of wheels I have here. Last month, I decided to see if Flex Seal would prevent slow leaks in these wheels.

So I took one that I want to use as a spare. Wire brushed it and primed it inside with Rustoleum 'rusty metal' primer. After it had dried, came back the following weekend and sprayed the inside with 'Flex Seal'. The following day, I sprayed on a 2nd coat of 'Flex Seal' and let it dry for a few days.

Took it to the tire shop and had a new radial (tubeless) tire mounted. Aired it up. Made note of the pressure. After a month had gone by, checked pressure and no leaks!

Not sure if this will work on wire wheels, but it works with riveted wheels.

    Best regards,

    Harry

Sounds good! Should work with spokes. Or I had 2 mags with bolt in 5 spoke wheels that leaked a lot. They are gone now in recycled heaven.
