Scorp... I'm not sure this one is a spare, since I disassembled my '55 Nomad (partially) back in the 70's... this one may be from it. If you can't find one quickly, I'll check my other shop and see if I have additional ones lying around.

PS. I'm pretty certain either the '55 or the '56 would work and no one would know the difference.

I think Cnut is correct, the difference is how the cables attach. The cables are different too for the same reason.

The housing, switch, and wiring is different also.

So I started working on straightening the frame. I have it pretty close; it looks like its off about an 1/8" now, looking at the cable retaining plate at the back.

I drilled out the rivets holding the retainer, and using the bench vise began working on it. I will post pics when I am done. I figured it was worth a shot, plus the box of junk parts from the wagon is overflowing.

Post some updated photos of your work Scorp, and let us know how it's going...

I had to put a post out here to make sure the site was still working..

In the spirit of "Dont let the perfect be the enemy of the Good",

I got it to about 1/8" off

    Here is where it started:

    Here it is now:

I had to relocate 2 rivets and you can see how much its off, about an 1/8":

Heres how it looks in front:

It fits in the dash fairly well. Because I couldnt get it fully straight without risking damage, when I put the cable holder in back and fit the rivets, it threw it off, so I redrilled.

    Not perfect but useable.
