I suspect I've got an extra one; I'll take a look next time I'm at the old shop. Please post (and save me looking time) if you find one in the meantime!

Jersey: I was at my 'dirty shop' today and I remembered to look for an oil filter canister. I do have an original one that is 'extra' for me. I've had this too long to recall where I got it.. It needs beadblasting, cleaning and painting, and I could not find the 'bolt' for the top. I may or may not have that; I'll have to look again. Let me know if you might be interested.

PS. When these were installed AT the factory, they were painted 'black' (with a white text instruction label). The Orange/blue ones were purchased OTC at the local chevy dealer for post factory install...

appreciate you digging that out ...I am very interested hope you can look/find the bolt for the lid.. couple questions if you know the answers where does that bolt up to ? ...looks like the thermostat neck ? I guess more important were they different applications 6 vs. 8 . I was abble to take the original owner out for a ride in the neighborhood today made mine and his day. I have a picture but the site is not letting me post says my file is invalid....Bob the OO put a aftermarket filter on himself after he purchased the car he bought it from Sears the hoses are bad and I like to have OE if i can even thow the story of Bob installing is a classic ...I am blessed to have purchased this car from him. Spent some time with him today helping trim some huge Oaks in his yard ill try to post here...nopw won’t let me ....well anyway i can blast and I do small parts powder coating myself if its not pitted to bad or epoxy prime and paint

oubqm3KwQ1e5wuYHkPpSBg.jpg Bama I took the picture with the phone long ways and the lense at the top then I emailed to myself ( which I guess resized it added it back to my photos chose it and uploaded.... lot of moves but here is what Bob installed back in 55. the hoses the supply line comes out of the intake( see the brass plug I put in the manifold) and the return is in the block above the timing cover I am assuming those are factory taps ? also I assume the hard line Eklers sells will attach to that canister you have bottom and side and plump to those locations. I know I asked if you know or have any memory of where it will attach is it to the first 2 bolts on the intake drivers side ? not the thermostat housing ..’
    thanks

Jersey boy, I assume you're the driver of those two teens riding in the car in your photo?

Yes, the oil filter bolts under the thermostat housing. The 6-cyl oil filter (for '55 and other years for the six) clamps to the manifold (ie. totally different). There are two steel (or copper?) lines to connect into the oil system. You should be able to see the oil line connectors in the photos of the oil filter, one from the bottom of the filter and one from the side. I'll look for the top bolt for this filter, but if I can't find it I may have another extra which is complete. I'll look for that one also.

very much appreciate you finding these items for me I saw the one on ebay for 165. or best offer + 99.00 shipping ( anybody thats been at this a while knows what a usps flatrate box costs ) that prompted me to post here to see if a board member had one to sell more reasonable and of coarse the support with in this community which I am finding refreshing. I rather pay a board member something reasonable and do the same if i can recipicate.
    thank you again,
    Jess/AKA Jerseyboy
