    Amsoil ATF: thread sealant?

I plumbed in a remote transmission fluid cooler for the TH350 in my 57. There is a brass thermostatic sensor for the fan, which threads into a fitting in the fluid flow. I just used standard white thread sealant tape on the sensor threads. Looks like that was a bad choice, as I am getting some weeping of ATF from the sensor threads. Is there a better sealant I should be using on the sensor threads?
    Thanks, Doug

If it is a pipe thread, then yes you used the correct sealant. Have you tried tightening it more?

I've usually seem to have the best luck with Loctite 567 thread sealant for metal fittings. I've been using it for at least 30 years, after working in maintenance in a diesel engine factory, that's all we used, except for when tape is a better choice for like plastic fittings, etc.

Thanks for the replies! I will tweak the tightness on the fitting if possible, and if that fails, I have some Loctite 567 on hand that I will substitute. Thanks, Doug

Update: The combination of Loctite 567 and likely tightening the fitting a bit more than I did before fixed the weeping leak I had in my transmission cooler temperature sensor fitting. Good to have that leak fixed.

Yep. I am seeking minor victories, trying to get this static build back to dynamic!
