    Drop spindles and coil overs

Are drop spindles required if installing coil overs and wanting to drop the stance in the front, or will the coil adjustments act similarly to a drop spindle with standard shocks?

You can run either one with or without the other.

With a coilover or lowering spring, you lose some suspension travel, because the bump stop on the lower control arm is closer to the frame. With a drop spindle by itself, you have the same suspension travel as stock.

Most if not all coilover shocks have limited travel anyway. Ride height adjustment using the adjuster nut on the coil shouldn't be used for big adjustments. Instead, you should modify the lower shock mount on the lower control arm to make big ride height adjustments.
