    Our constitution and our country!

We all learned about Paul Revere and his midnight ride in elementary school, but did you know that the primary reason for his ride was that John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress, was marked for assassination by the British government? Hancock had a bounty on his head and British troops were on their way to collect that bounty. That is when Paul Revere decided to step up and save Hancock in what is now known as Revere’s “Midnight Ride”.

Right you are, Gary! Our children and grand kids and great-grand kids must be taught the truth. Must be taught how men, women and children died in our fight for freedom from an oppressive King George. Must be taught to be proud to be Americans all......

One if by land, two if by sea!......

It would be great to bring history back to the classroom again............and, perhaps a hint of religion, morality, patriotism............you know, the good old stuff.

Along the same lines of this thread...

I've been doing 'remote church' since the first weekend of March due to the Covid dangers of associating in 'groups'... we use ZOOM, or YouTube depending on the type of meeting.

This morning during his sermon on 'Doing Good', our preacher referenced Edmund Burke, an Irish philosopher and anglo-irish member of parliament, who sided with the americans on several issues related to taxation. Among Burke's many famous quotations which still live today are:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."

"People will not look forward to posterity, who never look backward to their ancestors."

If you give these quotations some thought, it is clear that these concepts are true today also, and very important in politics and practically all aspects of our society!

    He also said:
"Reading without contemplation is like eating without digestion"...

I'm glad my Grandson goes to a Charter school. Several years ago, they started "Breakfast with a Vet" for Veteran's Day. The first time I went, I was impressed that they did the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. When I told my Grandson I was happy they did that for us on Veteran's Day, he said "Grampa, we do it every day". Made me proud.
Joe Biden promises to eliminate Charter Schools.

Thanks, Gary! Much appreciated! I'll see if I can tune in. Does this Zoom thing require a camera on my computer? I don't have anything like that.

    Best regards,

Outstanding, Buster! Sounds like a great school your grandson attends there! I am considering home schooling my great-grandson. Just don't think I can be around long enough to finish his education. So will need to hand off that responsibility to one of my sons or to a grandson or granddaughter when its time for me to go.

    Best regards,

Anyone interested in the Zoom meeting tonight on the constitution, this is the LINK they sent to me... hopefully it will work for you also?

Nothing is required by a computer screen and audio... it's like watching a youtube, but there is a facility for 'chat like inputs' to them.
