I had such good luck on my 55/56 with this stuff I ordered more to do a buddies 58 Apache with a tunnel ram and my dads Mustangs. Smooth operation and no sticking and much cheaper than stuff from Ace hardware.

I have settled on this for a while and it seems to be fine for the time being. Thanks to all who have chimed in! I feel like I have captured the essence of red neck art!

I'm not sure of which hole on the carburetor arm the linkage is supposed to be attached but the 1/4 rod fit better in the hole I'm using. I have checked for wot many times and it is adjusted perfectly. I might relocate the spring for aesthetic purposes. Thanks Dave!

I went on Don's East Coast site and haven't been able to find that rod so would you have a part number? I definitely like the spring position better. Are those late 90's vortec heads?

it`s not don`s. "east coast chevy/`ol `55", out of doylestown, pa. and is it me? the last photo posted. looks like the linkage on the carb is wide open, and the lever from the firewall is in the ldle position.

Oh ok Thanks! I saw the throttle on Rustsaddicts car too and I was thinking the same thing except I don't think the firewall lever is in idle position. He must have had someone inside the car when the photo was taken.

Sure it will work having the throttle return springs pulling back towards the firewall, but I always use the recommended position of mounting the springs in front pulling directly near the linkage or cable. With the rear springs it puts like double the load on the carb throttle shaft, and can accelerate wearing out the shaft pivot bushings. Between the tension from the spring, and the throttle linkage it is putting a bending force on the throttle shaft. With the spring mount forward the linkage is pulling mostly just on the spring itself. I've see it done wrong many times.

yea, looking at it closer, idle position. and i kinda see what ya mean, tension on the carb.

The throttle is wide open. I was by myself and checking for wide open throttle when I floored the gas and since I could'nt be at the carb and on the gas pedal at the same time, I leaned out of the car and took a picture while holding the gas to the floor to get the best look i could at where the carb linkage was at when the pedal was on the floor. RD might have a point about the return spring placement. I put it there because I thought it looked neater and is out of the way of my hand when I work the throttle linkage. Those are Vortec heads.

to check for WOT, have someone floor it, and look down the carb.
