drive and enjoy them while you work on them, life is to short.
It seems to be a '60's mod... shaving the emblems and smooothing all the panels! My uncle did this to a '55 BelAir sedan in the 60's... and in the '70's after buying my '55 Nomad, I went looking for all the trim he removed! that was way before the days of 'reproduction everything'...
PS. My turquoise '57 Nomad doesn't have the V's either (on either end), because it came as a 6-cyl/OD car originally. and I can't decide to leave them off or add them (but I am installing a V8 in it regardless).
Didn't the 6-cylinder cars have a different hood emblem in 57?
Mine has all the emblems it came with, even the bird and the V8 emblems under the taillights. But no bumper guards.

My Nomad, and I assume all 6-cylinder BA models in '57, had a CHEVROLET script (similar to V8 models) on the hood but positioned differently, but without the 'V' ... see danchuk ad... (6-cyl script 15" wide, V8 script 13" wide..
https://www.danchuk.com/ItemForm.asp...5-27eab8ec6043
On the rear (tailgate), the Nomad script is used but again, without the 'V' emblem.
I'm fairly certain that '57 6-cyl BA passenger cars (non Nomad) used a different emblem red/blue/white plastic center with gold anodized surround on the trunklid, which had the finger grips for lifting the trunklid. (BelAirs used the gold accent)
Doesn't appear that emblem has been reproduced, but I either have one, or had one (maybe I sold it) somewhere...

Yes, I prefer the Nomad without the “v” emblems, rear Nomad script and the two emblems on the rear tail fins.
The Nomad script on the dash is thinned out so it is trimmer looking. The back up lights were added as are the front rubber dagmars. The antenna hole was welded up. And drivers side mirror eliminated.
The front fender aluminum gills at head lights are body color. My thought was to “clean up” the excess trim I felt did nothing for the Nomad.
