327 H-P Ram Horn to 283 CI
Can someone tell me if these re-production 60"s 327 high performance ram horn manifolds will bolt right up to a 1957 283? If so what do you think the horse power gain would be, if any? Would you need larger than stock 1957 exhaust pipes to the back of the car to get the gain?

It should bolt right up to the head. You should at least increase the pipe size up to or through the muffler. Power increase will be minimal on a stock 283, maybe a few hp on one that's modified with a cam and good heads.

I pulled the headers on my 283 in my 55 and went with ramshorns. A couple of points;
I used 2 inch horns but used an adapter to go to 2 1/2 coming right off the flange
I had to make my own head pipes and built them to bolt in right at the header flange to be able to switch back to headers if I wanted
I used a straight drop on the passenger side and an angled dump on the driver. It allows nearly a perfect clearance of the steering box on the 55.
I blasted the ramshorns and then used a rub on renewable dressing called calyx. (available from Eastwood.)
I found the ramshorns kept the heat way down, and allowed me to mover the alternator to the passenger side via Alan Grove brackets which I think work well.

Weird. First time pics went sideways. What just happened?

I wish that I would have used them on my 56l
