Had to make the #1 forward body mounts, and it took forever!

IMG_5482.JPGPretty much finished the forward body mounts that some genius removed and scrapped from the 55 body shell I have. Finding out that part by itself is not available, and I didn't want to carve the ones off my other 55, end up with 2 cars without body mounts, and end up making my own. It took me like 4 months to come up with a plan, and then 3 more working on it when I could. I wanted them to be a strong mount since it is designed to transfer front frame movement into the stiff firewall/cowl area. So I came up with this trying to use up steel I had laying around to try and puzzle together 28 pieces of steel. Bought a couple of dimple dies for fun and punched 14 holes. Used up some roll-cage gussets I've had for like 30 years. The upright 90 degree channels were cut out of 1 inch square tubing with a my plasma that I also had to buy for the project. Material $20. Tools $2000.
