I know I need new floors and I need to patch up the trunk floor as well. I was surprised to see that buying the complete piece cost a good bit more than buying them separately. Both options claim to have full braces, etc. am I missing something? Why would the one pice be $1900 or so and the two pices together be about $1500?
(prices from memory...)

The entire assembled floor should only be about $900 or so. The trunk floor is not that much either. I don't know where you're getting prices, but don't buy the CARS floors...they're a lot more expensive.

$1900 for a "Full" floor/trunk with all braces - where? I see them for $2900 and free freight. At the very best, $2399 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/55-57-CHEVY-SEDAN-FLOOR-PAN-TRUNK-FLOOR-W-BRACES-/380247150733?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessorie s&hash=item58887f108d&vxp=mtr)

Why would you buy the floor/trunk floor assembly for $2900 or even $1900 when you can get the floor for $859 and the trunk complete for $600? That's only $1459 and shipping is $285 for both parts. You might even get them cheaper elsewhere if you buy them together.

Prices from resto-world -

FLOOR PAN (FULL WITH BRACES) B729710 $849
TRUNK FLOOR B733266 $585 (includes braces)

Total $1434

FLOOR PAN / TRUNK PAN ASSEMBLY B729712 $1899

It is my understanding that the last part is just the first two parts "put together" - so why is it $450 more? That's my question. Does the "assembly" include something additional? If not, you'd be crazy to buy it, right?

I's say they're the same.....the $450 must be for the additional spot welds. Some guys might bite.

You might want to call resto-world to confirm.

I like the concept of the full floor versus selling/installing it in halves. But seems to me that having the trunk floor pre-welded to the main floor makes it harder not easier to install. Plus it's easier to ship and store.
