I just installed a front antisway bar on my 56 project. I picked it up used at a swap meet. It did not come with the links to attach to the lower control arms. I fabbed some brackets out of angle and welded them on the control arms. The bushings, bolts and spacers that go between the control arms and the antisway bar are missing. It is no problem to fab them, but how long should they be? Does the length have any effect on how well the antisway bar works? I have some flexibility. Is shorter better or longer better or does it make no difference?

It makes no difference what length the links are, as long as they don't cause the swaybar to bind or hit anything. I would tend to put the ends in a position that allows them to move up and down freely without coming close to anything.

That's what I thought. I am going to make them long enough to be in the middle of the travel.

Along that line of thinking, putting the sway bar level at normal ride height, and making the links perpendicular to the bar and the control arm brackets is a good start at not binding it up through its travel.

I put this Addco sway bar on my 57. I pulled the front wheels up to the edge of the carport so it would be at ride height. It was easy to install. I didn't see that much of a difference in the handling, but I'm not a racer just a cruiser. I could have spent that $125.00 on something else. I would go measurer the bolts but I just got out of eye surgery.
