I am resurrecting a 57 Bel Air 4 door I pulled from a pasture. I put in a 72 model Chevy 350 motor with a TH400 transmission using the front motor mounts and side transmission mounts. It has a stock rear end. Does anyone know the dimensions for the drive shaft needed to fit this combination? Thank you

There is more than one lenth of a th400. After you get moter and trans in with the car sitting with suspension loaded measure center to center and have one cut.

I agree with Mark. There are instruction for doing this on Denny's driveshaft site, and on Inland Empire's site. I think you push the yoke all the way into the transmission, measure from the center of the rear u-joint to the center of the front one, then subtract 1".

Thanks Guys! I appreciate the help. I was planning to cut a longer one and have it balanced. But having one made would probably be a better idea.

Nothing wrong with cutting one down. once you know how much.

If you have a good machine shop--they can cut and balance a shaft--have had many done that way.
