Hello, this is Fritz from Springfield,Mo. Just picked up my first 57' chevy.Nice car but someone messed up the rear end. Like to know how much trouble it will be to fix back to original. Need some help! How does the chrome attach? Check out the hood. No rockets. Not sure why anyone would do this but they did! Any info would be very helpful.

Hi Fritz & WELCOME from TEXAS! Someone has turned your ride into a "mild" custom. If the work has beed done in good quality, you might consider leaving it this way. Otherwise, you could be looking at thousands of dollars in sheet metal repair &/or replacement plus a paint job. Back in the day, guys could not leave many cars stock, and gave their rides the George Barris treatment at great expense, just to get away from the Detroit look. Why not consider your ride as a preservation of those times? Looks cool.

Hi Fritz

Glad you decided to join the site , I agree Run-em but its you that have do decide if you like that look or the true 57 look ,
If you decide to change it back price is hard to say , Can you do body /sheet metal work ?? if so it would not be to bad , if you have to have someone do it for you then your looking at $$$$$$$$$

You might want to asked this question in the thread Metal Fab & Repair - General
Thanks Sid

best thing to do is drive it for 6 months, fix the mechanics then start making a list
