I feel bad about not contributing to the site as far as car related stuff. So I thought I would post some stuff I done for some buddies of mine. I have not had any time to work on my projects lately do to the honey do list from my wife. Hopefully I will be done soon and be able to work on my projects again.

First up is fixing an awful clip installed on a 1954 Chevy Truck.

Look at this mess

A buddy of mine asked me if I could reinstall his nova clip on his AD truck because the truck dog tracks. The clip was done back in 1992 from what he tells me. I told him when he takes the front sheet metal off and pull the engine to call me and I will take a look.
Well, he finally did as I requested and man this thing was a mess I did not expect anything this bad. The clip is installed crooked, ugly, different thickness of metals it looks like the guy that installed it used whatever was in the backyard. Anyway it has to be fixed so here are some pictures of what I have to deal with I cannot believe he paid the guy who did this. Some people should not work on cars.

I leveled the frame and built a jig so that I cut the clip out and get it ready for the re-install.

The first order of business was to cut out the ugly on the frame and the subframe before I reinstalled the clip.

After I measure 50 different time for the wheelbase and to insure everything was square, (I even put the front sheetmetal on to see if I liked how the wheels looked in the wheel well). I used a cardboard template to make a filler piece.
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5057/5435517076_f2e8b871fd.jpg
The filler pieces tacked in.

I measured everything again and even put the front sheetmetal back for a final check before welding it in. I eventually boxed the frame back to the cab mount and added gussets.

This was the day we test drove the truck. The owner is happy so I'm happy and the truck drives great. By the way I love the stance on this truck.

I stop by my buddy's house because he told me that he finally installed the grill and has been really enjoying the truck lately. Anyway I took a couple of pictures.

I have another buddy that I help out with a 1946 Chevy Truck. The truck was in the shop to have a Mustang 2 installed. 2 years later the Mustang 2 still was not installed. So I told my buddy go get the truck and I will do the Mustang 2 and install the engine and trans. Man I love this truck I wish it was mine.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6078/6112334085_b6a3f2504e.jpg

I've never seen a Mustang 2 unit like this before so I called the company and they answered my questions and the install went smooth.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6185/6112876678_16efec5574.jpg
After I tacked the Mustang 2 in I stood back and checked to see if I liked how the wheels were centered in the wheel well. This was really important because the shop uninstalled original suspension and filled all the holes and box the frame so I did not have any reference points as to where to put the cross member.

I installed this a while ago for a friend who was building a 56 Belaire for one of our buddy. I'm no longer friends with the builder so I don't know what ever happened to the car. I did love the quality of the Jim Meyers clip and it made me want one for my 55 Sedan.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3501/4080638671_dff1822576.jpg

Here is a shot of the engine that was suppose to be going into it. Its a 383 stroker crate engine.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2680/4080638837_2552109257.jpg

I really wish I could have seen this car complete, but I'm allergic to unnecessary drama and the builder and I started having drama so I stop associating with the guy. The owner of the car is real good people and the last I heard the guy still hasn't finished his car. Its a shame because the builder is a very talented guy he just procrastinates.

Thanks man. Yeah I'm really thinking about upgrading the suspension on the 55 210, but not until I finish the truck. I can't have both cars down.

Yeah the yellow truck is looking quite nice. I'm starting to become a huge fan of the Advanced Design Trucks (47-55 1st Series Chevy Trucks). I've been seeing some really nice ones lately.

As far as the truck don't be afraid to walk away.lol The truck you want will pop up when you least expect it.

Yeah sometimes its better to walk away. I wish I would have walked away from my truck and just bought one in better shape.lol But it was a big window cab and I had to have it.

The yellow truck is a 54, but 54 and 55 1st series are the same truck. Of course you know that the 55 second series is a task force truck like mine. 47 -55 1st series are Advanced Design and 55 second series to 59 are task force trucks.

Hey smooth not to be a butthead or anything but you do remember you owe me some pictures right?lol
