View Full Version : It took 45 days to figure out my brake problem

Let me start with everything is new.
I had very little rear brakes and was not getting enough fluid.
Working backwards I found the proportioning valve had a pressure differential valve stuck in the front position.
I could not get it to return to center without taking it apart so I buy a new proportioning valve.
After the new one is installed it it does the same thing.
So I tear into the old one to learn how these things work. Pretty simple stuff.
I learn the valve is moving to a closed position because of a pressure difference from the master cylinder.
So I tear into my new Ebay Chrome master cylinder (only 500 miles on it) and the cylinder looks like the inside of a 357.
Spiral lines on the cylinder wall.
CPP says those spiral lines on the cylinder wall are leaking fluid past the rubber seals and causing the difference in pressure to the proportioning valve.
DAMN made in China EBAY crap.
So 45 days later the new CPP master cylinder is installed and I have brakes.
I just hope this one is not made in China.

Glad you were able to recognize the problem.

I wouldn't buy a chrome master cylinder for a trailer queen myself.

Now I may have to just tear down my new one before I put fluid in it.
