I am looking at 1955 2 door post chevy. It is very strait and complete. It has a little outer rocker rust, tail pan rust, and a little eyebrow rust. It has a clean title and the interior is all their. The car is as it would have been in 55 minus the motor and transmission. What would this be worth?

Without good pictures to support my thoughts, I would say $4500 to $5800.

IMO a "little" rust on the exterior almost always leads to more rust underneath. Did you look under the car? I would almost bet there is some rust in the braces and floor, as those places rust out first. Without seeing the underside of the car, it's hard to tell what needs replaced.

Is it a BelAir or a 210? Where is the car from?

By your description it sounds pretty solid, so assuming that's all the rust that needs repairing, the doors are solid, the quarters are solid, all the stainless is there and the trim is in good condition I would put the value at 4000-6000. The reality is that in order to build a nice car out of it, you'll probably be replacing all the glass, and most of the die-cast trim. After almost 60 years the die cast parts are usually only good for a driver and is typically dulled, pitted, and scratched.

I bought a pretty rust-free 56 BA 2-door sedan a few years ago for $4900. The floor is very solid, with some minor rust on one floor brace. It has all the parts (as far as I can tell), some brand new emblems and trim, all the exterior stainless, but it's partially disassembled. It has the engine (SBC) and transmission (T350) in it, and it supposedly runs, but I've never started it. The car was kept indoors for at least 20 years before I bought it, and the parts were all in boxes kept indoors in a dry climate (Colorado). So even the die cast parts look almost new. I thought I got the car for a lot less than the market value at the time.

Part of it is how bad you want it, and how bad the owner wants to get rid of it. The market for these cars is weaker than it was a few years ago, but seems to be stabilized. Take a look on eBay and look at completed sales for similar cars..that will give you an idea.

I did look under the car in I may have to replace one floor brace and the driver floor pan. All the glass is their but it is foggy and cracked so as you said needs replaced. All the stainless trim is their. I'm assuming it was a 210 but not certain. But do y'all figure it would be a steal at 1500? It's a centralTexas car.
