I'm in the very early stages of my 1955 nomad project. Lots of rust and metal repair ahead of me. My question is how close is the rear seat to the front bench seat when it is folded in the flat position and the front seat is adjusted all the way to the back most position? I'm a big guy and plan to move the front bench back 4 inches with the ecklers relocate rails or even more. I'm concerned that the rear seat will hit the front bench when you fold it down. Am I on the right page here? If this be the case I'm consider options like modifying the rear folding seat or move it back also or both. I would perfer to be able to have the back flat when the Bench is all the way back.
Thanks
Rocky

Wow, 4 inchs is a long way up there. Your passenger going feel like they are in a living room. I had to mine back two inchs for my extra long trans shifter mount. You can really tell something is wrong. I dont like it and will be coming up with a fix. I am 6 2' , is long legs the problem or too many beer in the tummy? A smaller wheel helps the tummy prob.

I'm way guilty with the beer gut but as stated tilt will fix that. Legs to long. My 65 cutlass has a 6 inch set back the comfort level is perfect. I like the massive original wheel also plan to keep unless I buy the smaller replica. Just sayin I'm in the upper NFL offensive line men cat. I was at a car/truck show in Dallas in the 90's in fair park. Nate Newton was in line ahead of me to get a fountain drink. I ask my wife after a bit was I as big as Nate. She said I don't know I couldn't see him you were in the way. Just sayin lol

Its a T56 (89 Camaro) with only the one mount for the shifter way back. I have a bench seat and I did make a mount to get the shifter ahead 3 more inchs. I also had to make brackets to raise the seat an inch. I made a bad choice I think, i should have just bought a Tremec with the two mounting spots.

The T56 wasn't offered in the 3rd generation Camaro, and they had the much weaker T5 5-speed transmissions. The T56 was first offered in the Camaro in1993 in the 4th generation cars. Even the Corvette didn't have a T56 until 1997...the C4 had the ZF-6 6-speed. Every T56 6-speed I've ever seen has two shifter holes on top....all of mine do. The forward one requires a kit to move the shifter forward.

Thanks for the info on the T56 Cnut. I was off on the year, Maybe it was a 94 if I remember right. I did talk to Tremic and they are the ones that informed me that the forward spot that looks like another shifter mount was only a inspection plate. They also went on to say that there was no kit that I could buy to use the forward spot. They also want to sell their stuff and maybe I was mislead by them. I wish there was a kit, it would of saved me a lot of grief. If there is one made I would get it and do the change.

Sleeper if you really have a T56 you should call Keisler Engineering and ask them about relocating the shifter. They sell a kit to do it, but the transmission had to be disassembled to put it in. Maybe they or someone else has a different kit now. I can't see why they couldn't make a bolt-on part instead of a pinned one.

I have three new Viper T56s and they have the shifter 3-4" forward of the Camaro T56. The forward cover is in about the same place, however. I think it's only the tailshaft housing that's different.

You could always move your firewall forward and use a V6! LOL

Hey Chevys ls v6 puts down 300hp might not be a bad idea. Moving the firewall want be hard cause its the only metal left on my mad that ain't rusted. Ill be cutting it loose anyhow lol.
Actually it shows the flip seat touches when front seat is in back position with 4.5 inches of adjustment. So if I can live with just moving it back 4 inches the flip seat should still work by adjust seat to fwd position. Means my wife will be driving I can live with that compromise.
Curious are there other nomad manuals available on line. I still have much to learn.
Thanks again
Rocky

As it turns out looks like 4 inches is not near enough. I have my current hot rod set back 6 inches and I fit real nice in it with lots of leg room. When I compared the nomad to it looks like I need to move the seat back at least 8 to 10 inches from its most aft position. Problem is I can't even crawl in the back seat now with the stock seat in the aft position. So the plan is to incorporate some new seat tracks that will have more travel so I can have my cake and eat it too so to speak. So I ordered these 12 inch travel seat rails from hotrodhq and they were suppose to be for a bench. Either I'm not seeing something or these are design for a bucket seat or a RH drive car. The instructions sent are a joke to say the least. It looks like I'm going to have to cut the handle off of one and weld it on the other to make it LH. I'm not sure yet how I will incorporate these and integrate to the original bench seat. I'm open to ideas at this point.

Success!!! With a few mods & a little fab work to the generic slides the split bench now has 12 inches of travel from front to back. Plenty of leg room now and I can still crawl in the back win win. The seat is in touched except I need to move the shells up 1/2 inch in front to clear tracks.
