Does anyone have any pics of gauges mounted on the outside cowl?

I don't know why you would want to do that. I don't think it would look very good. Why not inside?

About all I ever see on the cowl is a fuel pressure gauge on an old race car.

Most gauges are not up to being in the rain.

Hey I own one of those cars with the fuel gauge mounted that way.

Just been tossing it around...my car isn't a drag car. Looking at ways to see boost and fuel pressure. Rick I wouldn't be driving this in the rain, so not worried about that.

About the only weather proof boost gauge would be from an aircraft or a boat. As mentioned, they used to be mounted on the outer cowl on an "OLD" racecar. Even at that, I think there would be a better way/position for the gauge. You could easily craft up some idiot lights that would be visible and even put a kill switch or studder box of sorts. There is always more than one way to skin a kitten.

Not pretty, but definitely in line of sight which was most important issue.

Oil pressure on left mounted on cowl, fuel pressure in center mounted on hood: 1968-1971, C/MP 432 cu in rat in 56 4 door wagon

In photo below you can barely make out the PLASTIC (omigod) line to the fuel pressure gauge. It always passed NHRA tech.
