I have a good working Delphi alternator on the LS engine out of a 2000 Camaro. I am installing it in my 57 and want to know how to wire it.
Is there a simple way to make it a "one wire" by doing a jumper similar to what we have been doing to the earlier Delco alternator for many years? This unit has a big post on the back and an oval plug with 4 small posts in it.

I personally would not do a one-wire alternator, especially one that has a high current draw. The extra wires are the "sense" wires that should go back to the fuse panel or the battery to make sure the voltage at THAT location is kept controlled. I would wire it like the Camaro was wired.

My problem is that I got no wiring from the Camaro so I am going to have to figure out what to do now. There is a "sticky" post I think is at the top of the electrical list that gives the wiring for the older style. I need one for this style alternator.

Is a CS alternator? I assume it is. I am using a CS-130 140A alternator on my 502. I wired it like shown at this link to S&P, except I ran the "S" wire to the fuse panel instead of jumpering it to the battery terminal.

A jumper from the output terminal to the S wire makes it a one wire alternator. Some late model GMs are wired that way.

Personally I would wire it by the wiring diagram from the donor.
