We guys, this year putting on a F1 Procharger to the little SBC. lol! Since I have to go with a remote PS setup, going with hydra-boost system. Will need to verify the dimensions from the firewall to the end of my MCPV MC, due to the inlet of the procharger. Did find out will have to notch the valve cover a bit so the supercharger will fit. Will post some pics. :p

Nice project. that's all gonna be a tight fit for sure. A hydroboost (with CNut's bracket) and a stock early gen Corvette style M/C stick out 14 1/2 inches from the firewall.

Can you tell me how much each one measures? My CPP MCPV is 8 1/4.

Thanks

CNuts bracket is 1/4 inch thick
The Hydroboost is 6 1/8 inch long
The MC (on mine) is 8 1/8 inch long

Its the distance from the firewall towards the front of the car. The hydra boost will work. Will have to move the lines a bit. I was able to massage one of the bolts loose from the firewall, but the others will be difficult...go figure!

Sounds like a fun winter project JT looks like there will be more surprises for those that think these trifives are just doddlers to drive :)

Actually I did some reading on the ECI setup. Seems like nobody's really serious about it because they think it's "magic" and doesn't work.

Here's what I found out....

The problem with small bore master cylinders that are used to increase pressure is that they cause more pedal travel. This is because less fluid is displaced as the pedal moves forward. With the larger bore master cylinders you displace more fluid, but get less line pressure.

So apparently ECI uses a dual-piston arrangement in the "booster" section where the larger piston displaces the fluid to fill the calipers, then the smaller piston takes over to apply the pressure. Apparently fork lifts use a similar braking setup, and it's also found on floor jacks that move up quickly with no load but then move in smaller increments with a load.

Pretty ingenious, but it doesn't seem to be catching on. I wonder why?

Well today I removed the brake assembly so I could remove those 4 bolts. Was able to massage one with a hammer but the others were a little more stubborn!

Are you building a sprint car? Way cool stuff there. I haven't used their products but I think Smileys over in Mesquite carys some of it.

No sprint car, just looking for options with my remote ps reservoir. Not too much out there that would mount on the fender. I ordered through Smileys, but manufacture had to change one of the fitting from a -4 to -6. That way I could use for hydraboost. Here is a pic. Really nice piece...baffles and all.

Still need to paint the elbo(gold) between the two black boots. Add my stainless clamps then I'm off.

Took the car out for its maiden voyage. While I still have to tune this thing, Man there is a huge power increase! Learned that you must tighten those Tbolt clamps or they will allow the rubber boots to pop off. Then it sounds like a cyclone under the hood. Right now still have a hotter plug in it than a boosted car needs. My AFR is between 10 and 12, which is still on the rich side.

JT, just curious how come you went with a pro charger as opposed to a roots type blower? They all appear to be in the same basic price range.

Under the hood, plus the ProChargers are more efficient and weigh less. Bottom line they make more power.

JT that thing looks bad ass. How much of a power gain did you get? Would love to do that to mine.

I figured the "more power" was it cause there are plenty on top mounts that clear the hood of a 55. Yours looks great!!!

Smooth, havent dyno'd it, but should be between 900 to 1000. Right now only 10 lb of boost. Working on the tuning, then will chassis dyno it. Before the supercharger the motor dyno'd 600 at the flywheel. Here is the latest pic after painting the elbo body color. Thanks Smooth3815

While roots blower still have that classic look, unless you get into 10-71 or bigger, the new technology twin screws superchargers(Kennebell), centrifugal s (ProCharger, Vortech) just make more power. They have more street-able manners ect... Thanks for the compliment!

JT, I assume you have a drive shaft loop on that beast? What are you using? Any pics of chassis setup with that much power.
Thanks

Yes a competition engineering one. Suspension starts with Energy suspension motor mounts and tranny mount. Ride Tech 4 link with coil overs, Big bearing 9 with Strange Axles, Mosier Nodular housing with pinion support and detroit locker. 38173818

JT, aren't you getting a little carried away? :) :)

When your setup to run pump gas you need a little insurance to make sure of no detonation! lol! I am actually going to change my mc from the CPP to a GTO one. I need a shorter one so I can make an input on the front of sc so I can put one of the nozzles there. There is always something!

Well started having a lean condition under boost, so made the change to a Magnafuel flow through regulator. BTW-Steve Morris Racing Engines is a great company to work with. My new setup now has a -10 inlet and -12 outlet!4436

Weather permitting going to the Texas Nostalgia Nationals at Yellowbelly! There is a big No Prep too, but those cars are way fast! Plus I wont take my car down that...dont want the risk of slippery track
