No real Gasser should be without one. Real Gassers did not use 9 inch Fords.

I suppose that you think a 9 inch with a Traction lock is a good plan.

Seems like very few guys use the Pontiac/Olds rearends and the 9" rears are made by everyone these days so they're a lot more popular. I guess I don't know what a "real" gasser is but I think they used whatever they could find back in the day.
I've got a 1940 Chevy coupe project upcoming, will be a period correct gasser build. He's already got the Olds rear and the 409.. Still need the 4 speed afaik...

Now that sounds like a really cool project, the owner of the 1/8 mile dragstrip I frequent owns an altered roadster with a 409 with Hilborn Stack Injection. Word has it its got a 427 BBC crankshaft. Nothing beats a 409 for bonus cool factor.
In the late 70s I ran a late 60s Mustang 9 inch in my 67 SS 350, I was in the minority back then. I got tired of traction lock issues and installed the correct 12 bolt posi. I have not touched
it again in over 30 years.
