I got a re-upholstered power bench seat with my 56 sedan that I need to ID so I can sell it. It looks like it has a GM build sheet under it, in the springs, but some of it is gone and I can't tell the year or model of vehicle it's from. It has the motors and controls on it. It's 55" across the bottom cushion and it looks like the tracks would almost be a bolt-in for a tri5.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like our old Buick Skylark front seat.

Nick, you may be right. I took a closer look at the build sheet and it says "BUI" in one box but the rest is torn off. So I'm pretty sure this is a Buick seat. It says the car had a black vinyl top so it was not a convertible. I wonder if some of the other options would help me determine the year, or if there's some other way to tell what year it is.

I have searched and found similar seats for Skylarks, Chevelles, Cutlasses, GS's but can't find any pictures with the same metal around the side of the seat.

Found this one that has the same side trim but no center armrest. It says it's from a 71-76 CHEVY IMPALA PONTIAC BUICK OLDS 1971 1972 2DR. So it looks like mine is from some model of early 70's Buick. I have yet to find one with the center armrest and power so it might be a bit of a rarity.

How much travel does it have? does it work? I'm interested in it for my nomad.

Rocky, I don't know if it works, but everything looks intact. I also don't know how much travel it has. I've done nothing with it but bring it home when I bought my sedan and it's been stored indoors since. It's really heavy, so probably wouldn't be worth shipping it and it would have to go freight. That non-power one is selling for $330 so maybe it's worth more than I thought. :).

Looks real close to whats in my sisters 77 Cutlass and I know its OEM, because it was purchased new. I have a parts car she bought I will look an it.

77 Cutlass center arm rest and headrest but its a 60/40 bench.

I saw a couple pics of a 60/40 bench, here's one in a 73 Buick Centurion. Notice the lack of the tilt lever on the side trim:

The seat tilt release was automatic when door was opened if I remember correctly.

WTF I have never seen a Cutlass, Monte, Regal etc. ragtop from 73-88

Wait a minute was a Centurion on a Caprice, Delta 88, LeSabre platform.

I wish I knew how much travel it has. I believe it can be shipped via grey hound fairly cheap. I just installed 12 inch travel slides on my stock bench but I can't drop it much because it is not cutout around the hump like this one is. I also like the arm rest in the middle.

Except my seat and the one shown above the green one has the seat tilt levers. I assume that's what they are.

Part of the equation is the travel, and part of it is where the seat actually sits relative to the tracks. The tracks are similar to the tri5 seats, but the bolt spacing front to rear is slightly different. On a tri5 it's 12 5/8" and on this seat it's 11 5/8".
