Has anyone used the repop door glass lower channels? I bought some a while ago and they are nowhere near like the stock ones I have. I got them because mine are rusted on bottom, and one of the brackets is broken off. They claim these are all the same for Nomads, Hardtops, and Convertibles. I suspect these are made for Hardtops/convertibles and supposedly will work on the Nomads.

First of all, the channels are wider than the stock ones. They are a little shorter, and the brackets aren't in the same place.

I am wondering if the length and bracket location is a big deal or not, and whether the new repop glass-setting rubber is made thicker to fit the wider channels.

Anyone know?

Looks like Danchuk says the HT/Conv ones are different:

But Ecklers says they're the same:

Mine have PN 36-33 on them, which is Eckler's part number, but I didn't buy them from Ecklers. I think these came from Mr. Nomad and they don't have the roller guides on them like Eckler's shows.

Just trying to get my parts together. :)

I have been told that these parts are unique to nomads. You may want to fabricate your on. I know You have the skill set lol.

I'm not making parts that cost $22. I'm not quite as crazy as Robert. :) :)

They don't make them for nomads so you might want to apologize to Robert and take notes lol.

I have used them on a nomad without a problem. There is no set size glass setting tape, you just have to see what size you need for any particular job. There are 3 or 4 different sizes.

Did you look at the links I provided above? Danchuk has a specific part just for Nomads.

Thanks Lee. What is "glass setting tape"? There is a glass setting rubber channel that's supposed to be used to set the glass in these. Do you use the "tape" with these rubber channels?

"The glass setting channel is an absolute must when installing glass. With this important part, glass can be safely and securely pressure-fitted into the glass metal channel. One set per car required. Danchuk # 844 will work on any 1955-1957 classic Chevy Nomad. Made in the USA."

After checking the parts list for that nomad I did, it looks like the lower channel I used was a used hardtop part I had laying around, so I don't know about the reproduction. The glass setting tape information is for when you do the window chrome.

Ditto. Used the tape on my hardtop chrome. Just remove excess with a knife.
