Starting my second build and have decided to build this one for my wife.
I will give details later but have a question about finding a LS.

I have narrowed my choice to a 2003 or 2004 LS 5.3 from a two wheel drive truck.
Looking for the drive shaft, gas pedal, fuse box, ECM, TAC box, all wiring, 5.3 engine, 4l60e transmission and maybe the cross member too.

Finding one on Craigslist has been difficult so far but I am not in a hurry.

A friend suggested I go to Insurance Auto Auction.
This auction has many totaled vehicles from the Insurance Companies.

They have a location near me and it is open to the public if I register and pay $200.00.
Wanting to hear your opinion, is this a good way to just buy the whole vehicle and take my chances or am I wasting $200.00

Seems like it should be fairly easy to pick up a wrecked truck on CL. I don't see any vehicle listings on the IAAI sites so it looks like you would just have to go to every auction until you found one. I wonder what the prices would be like in comparison to CL.

What's special about a 2003-2004?

I'd get on car-part.com and call some of the listings there to see what price you'd pay at a salvage yard in your area. Also it would be good to get feedback on the auction from someone who participates at it. I'd try to be aware of any extra charges that one might encounter there too.
