I don't have the original inserts, instead they owner before me has put some kind of textured plastic in place of the inserts and painted it. Am i better off buying new repro or trying to find some original to clean up and restore. I also was curios about the repro trim? Is it better to have the original bumpers and everything re chromed or buy new? Other option is to leave them alone the picture of the white is after i painted the texture plastic. Not sure who thought that blue looked good. The car is not going to be number matching original more of a hot rod. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Since your car is a 210 it didn't originally have the BelAir inserts. But they can be added. From what I've seen the reproduction ones are very nice. Re-chroming bumpers is going to run $600-900+ each based on quotes I've gotten (show chrome at high end). I don't know what the quality of the reproduction bumpers is like.

So on the 210 was the body just painted with no kind of panel in that area? Its a little hard to tell by the pictures i have seen.

Yes, the 210 had that area painted. Sometimes it was in a contrasting color to the rest of the body like on your car.

The Danchuk inserts for a Bel Air are very nice pieces, authentic and durable. I don't think you can in any way clean up some originals and make them look as good. The only good originals are on the high dollar show cars that have been stored and not driven for virtually all their time. You can't buy that kind of part used without buying the whole car.
