Sorry for asking so many questions but I have another one.

Should there be a gap between the fender and rocker or not? I've seen it both ways.

No gap.

If someone has replaced the rocker incorrectly you may have one. I suppose the factory could miss it slightly too.

The most important thing is to adjust both the door and the fender to the correct gaps. You can't move the rocker without getting out the cutting tools and welder.

I'm not sure about that. I've seen restorations with the same gap as the door to fender and some with a gap, but smaller. In fact, Danchuk had their high end fully restored yellow and black 56 4DHT at SEMA and it had a gap there too, same as the door to fender gap. I don't know what the factory did.

On my car, I closed the gap almost all the way. I think I left about 1/32" for paint and to make sure it didn't chip from contact.

My fenders line up perfect with no gap and I think it looks better so I will do the 1/32". Thanks for the help!

P.S. Nice gaps Chevynut.

I don't care what it is I have always been OK with door gap. Too tight and paint will chip on edge when the car flexes.
