I have a pair of Baer calipers for the front of my car that I want to paint. They came from Baer in a flat black finish but I think I want something else. I will probably paint the caliper brackets with urethane in charcoal, and I'm unsure of the color of the calipers...any ideas? They have a milled "BAER" logo and I'd like to keep that.

Any recommendations on types of caliper paint? How can I keep the Baer logo unpainted without having to use a brush for the paint? This is the kit I have....

What about the product (Cerakote) you are using for other items. If durability is a concern against the heat generated from use, that would be a direction to consider. They have a large color chart.

Are they presently painted or powder coated? Are the letters recessed or protruding?

Cerakote would probably work but it has a flat finish, no gloss, unless you put the gloss clear over it. I'm not sure of the temp rating of the gloss clear.

I did find a caliper paint that's epoxy based from G2. They will custom mix it to any color you want but it's not cheap.

I think they're painted flat black. My rear calipers are not painted.

The front caliper logo is recessed. I was thinking I'd like to fill it with something I could take out or dissolve out after painting. But the G2 caliper paint is brushed on so maybe I can just be careful with it if I go that route. If I go with a standard color, like red, I can get spray paint.

Spray paint? All the detail on that chassis, and you choose spray paint?

The frame paint was SPRAYED on!!!! :)

Most caliper paints come in spray cans. The G2 stuff is epoxy and comes in a can to brush on. Maybe you can spray it out of a gun, but I'm not sure.

I think I'm going to go with gloss black, gloss red, or gloss orange (custom mix same as my frame). Lots of cars have red calipers regardless of the color of the car. What do you guys think would look best?

Here's an atomic orange vette with red calipers. The color is similar to mine...

Red, with your color doesn't work for me but as with every inch of any of these cars, ya just can't please everyone.

What color do you think would work better?

Personally a think a medium to dark metallic gray goes really well with most oranges. If you want the recessed letters to stick out, paint them the same orange as the car or maybe white :) I'm not a fan of red calipers myself, but it's your car.

Personally I am not a big fan of the standout red on the calipers, I think it takes away from the tire and wheel package. How about painting the calipers the same charcoal gray as the hats and if you want some flair the BAER in your orange frame color. Just a suggestion.

Interesting, as most cars WANT the calipers to stand out. They're usually red, yellow, or some bright color. My rotor hats are actually black anodized aluminum. The problem (not really a problem) with matching the frame color is that it's $100 for 4 ounces of paint. If I painted them charcoal I'd have to get the custom color at $100, and to accent in orange it's another $100 to match that color. Do I really want to spend $200 on brush-on caliper paint? :p

Here's an Atomic Orange Corvette with color-matched calipers. Even the bracket is orange. I'm not convinced the bracket has to be high temperature paint though. However, it would have to contrast or match the caliper color, and the custom colors aren't metallic or pearl.
