    UNDERCOATING

I started the first major body rebuild on my white 87 GMC and need to remove undercoating from bottom of bed floor and rear wheel tubs. Anyone got any good ideas on this problem.

I had to remove quite a bit of undercoating from the bottom of my 55. I tried different things but I had the best luck heating it up with a heat gun and scraping it off with a putty knife. Once you put some heat to it, it comes right off. After that, I wiped the residue off with gasoline. I know that is a no no, but it worked well.

The thick tar on my 55 and 56 responded well to heat. the more modern rubberized crap on the 87 not so well.
