Now that we lost Newman does anyone of a source or place to send the dog bones in a C4 rear end to get a Free Action Bearing Kit liked they used to sell? Thanks for your input.

Thank you very much. That looks to be what I need. My first time visiting this site but I see I have a great place to learn from others that know. Thanks again.

There is a stark difference between Rod Ends and the machining/bearings they used. I knew they had ceased building chassis but was unaware the discontinued service parts. Not a good business model.

I might try building you a set.

I would pay $200+ for OEM replacements if someone made them.

If you are able I'd love to do this.

I don't recall what Newman sold them for however, the bearings used are from Currie. Now don't run out the door but they're $49.97 from Summit before modification/dissasembly. Machining, is not an issue for me. I have lath and milling machines in-house. It's time. If you're not in a hurry, then I'll fit it in. Are you wanting only Dog Bones? Their system included the two Strut Rods also as I recall.

As a solution away from me making some, if you have access to someone with a lathe, you could do this. Purchase the eight Johnny Joints (Four LH and four RH 3/4-16 threaded with 1/2" through hole) needed. Purchase 4, AFCO Part#: 19509 (9"). Take a pair to a machine shop and have .86 removed from each end. Purchase 8, 3/4-16 Jam Nuts - 4 LH and 4 RH. Assemble as shown. I'm pretty certain of my OAL on each unit but that can be verified by you or the machine shop doing the work. C-Nut might have some ideas also.

I just recalled acompany in Mesquite, TX – Smileys. http://www.smileysracing.com/shopping/productDetails.aspx?i=97317&c=1558 They have the same tubes (steel) in 6, 7, 8, 9 and up. Get the JohnnyJoints, Jam Nuts, two 6" #19506 SRP 3/4" Steel SwagedTube, Threaded, 6" @ $9.95 ea. And two #19508 SRP 3/4" Steel Swaged Tube,Threaded, 8" @ $10.95 and eliminate the trip to the machine shop. Assemble as needed.

Good idea, but the rear joints need to be much bigger than 1/2 in bore for one.

I'd rather have you miil all six factory pieces. The car is not finished I am mocking it up as we speak. I'm waiting on the painter to squeeze me in so I have some time. Tell me how to get these parts to you. My cell is 775-762-7042. I live in Reno NV. Thanks

Unless there is a benefit to not using the original pieces, I wouldn't mind just shipping all six parts to you. And yes your right, I would also like too also do the toe bars as well. If you tell me how to make contact with you or feel free to contact me at 775-762-7042, I can get the parts to you. Look forward to hearing from you, thanks.
