here in Virginia beach, Virginia, I know of two a 1955 mostly there runs, rough has extra rust free doors and metal patches. full interior 408 cubic inches with a th400 in it 10k that guy wants. And he has a 56 with a 327 and a four speed I think it runs. needs a interior and some trim. And needs a gas tank. Does not actually look as rough as the other one. 5k. A friend has them. I was think of buying one or the other myself but I don't really want another project right now. Kerry in Virginia Beach Virginia.

I have one, 180 miles south of Minneapolis for $5500 firm. PM me. Picture in this thread. Currently on a body shop waiting list for new quarters, tail pan, etc. If nobody wants it, I'll save it somehow. Just bought a pair of front OEM usable fenders for $500.

Wow RD, those tires fit "perfectly" and I'll bet they don't rub at all. :D

Actually there is room to go quite a bit bigger, but big sticky 275/60-15 inch tires are tough to find anymore, even what I have on it now are no longer available anymore. Even something 27 inches tall or taller are very limited in the 17 and 18 inch sizes, or you are stuck with a SUV tire. Too short of a tire on a big car like a tri 5 doesn't look, or work so great. If it matters, NASCAR rolls on 28x12.50-15's on 9.5in wheel, that seem to work okay. A 275/45-17 would be a great size that isn't produced.

I don't know what you're calling "too short" but it's hard to fit a 29 or 30" tire on a tri5. The stock tires were about 28" tall. I think a ~25.5-27" tire looks fine, and they look even better with 17 or 18" wheels, especially if the car is lowered. There's plenty of choices in the 25.5"-27" range. I guess if tires don't fit, all you have to do is remove the interfering sheetmetal, right? :D

There are just not many good 27 inch tall tires anymore. The 255/50-17's the Impala SS ran were great for a big car, but only a couple import tire makers left. No more great tall tires anymore. There use to be DOT autocross tires in 70 series that had amazing grip. The tires on my wife's 4 cylinder Camry are 26.3 inches tall which is a much smaller car than a 3/5. It makes no difference in looks viewed directly from the side whether the tire is 6 inches wide or 12 inches wide.
