Anyone have some advise regarding the installation of a Trailer Hitch ?

I don't know what's out there commercially. Anything that mounts to just the crossmember at the rear of the frame is inadequate because that crossmember is weak and lacks stiffness. So whatever you do needs to attach to the main frame rails and have it's own crossmember, actually two of them. It won't take much structure for a 1500 lb trailer but the stock crossmember is not even good for that IMO.

When I got my 55 it had a really simple hitch bolted to the stock crossmember and the bumper itself, both were all bent up from that. I had to straighten the crossmember and weld up the holes. A previous owner probably tried to do just what you have in mind.

This hitch fits very well on a trifive see link. Just don't mess up like me and order 14308. It took heavy modification to fit lol.
