Want to get a 4L80E, I thought I recall hearing that some of the earlier ones are not as desirable? Does it take much to make them as good as the later models? And what years are good years to look for? I beat the snot out of the current TH400 and expect to do the same with the new one. I'll be rebuilding it myself, got great performance out of the 400 I rebuilt with shift kit and full rebuild. Maybe the new one won't need a full rebuild?

Thanks! I'm thinking a shift kit and a 32 element sprag if it doesn't have one already. I think the assembly with clutches and seals as a unit is the same as the th400 and the complete unit isn't too pricey. Hopefully I can sell the 400 by giving the potential buyer a little test ride. I'll also have to get a book, I like pictures when I inevitably mix up some parts from their order.
