2 door hardtop dome light wires

I have 1 orange and 1 white wire at each dome light in the rear, and I have one white wire under the dash that goes to the passenger side door switch. Without looking at a schematic, I believe the orange should be hot and the white to the door switches and the headlight switch. What I need to know is where are they physically supposed to be routed?

Door switch wires under dash, dome light wires under a metal cover under sill plates to drivers side quarter panel up into roof in corner, back to middle of roof and across clipped to center brace if I recall.

Thanks. Found more. From under the sill plate they went with the rest of the tail light wires into the trunk but not far, then up to the rear roof. It's a 55 2 door hardtop so there are 2 lights in the rear corners of the roof and no center dome light.
