Hello, Bob. Thanks for adding me to your list. Am in the process of
replacing the upper liftgate on my 56 Mad. Also will be swapping
motors......327 out and 40 over 350 will go in. I would be interested in
hearing from other Nomad owners or any Tri-Five Chevy lover in the Gulf
Coast
area. Can't wait for Crusin' the Coast in October in Gulfport, Ms.

Bob
I just want to tell you how much I appreciate the time and effort you put
in to get this list to us. I
have been on your list for about a year and during that time, I have really
got an education about
the TriFives. I have received help from a lot of list members that did not
know me but were kind
enough to help me with some hard problems. I also found parts that I had
advertised for in hobby
publications and not found anyone that had the parts.

I told everyone in my club about your list and every last member that has
e-mail is now on your
list. I sure hope CCI will put something in their magazine about the list.
Your list has saved me
hundreds of dollars in the restoration of my 56. I can not imagine any
TriFive owner not wanting to be
on the list. Have you heard from CCI? Also thanks Keith for telling CCI
about Bob's list. You did
every TriFive owner a big favor.

I also like 50s Trivia. Here is a hard 50s trivia question? If you have
heard any Elvis record, you
most likely heard the Jordanaires in the background. What were their
names?

Ron Brown

Editor's note. I have not heard from CCI?

Thank-you for the information on the chevy's. We currently are in need of
info regarding 1958 chevy nomads. If you know of anyone who could be
helpful
in answering questions such as # of nomads built in 1958, I have never seen
another one at a car show like this, and was wondering if someone has info
dealing with more specifics regarding 58 nomads. Thank-you for youe help.
Chris

Editor's note. I think the 1958 Nomad was completely different that the
55-57s. It was a four door
wagon.

Been hitting the stores lately, and there are some cool new items for
you classic car and truck lovers. Here's a quick list of what I've
found.
Hotwheels : '55 chevy car, red with blue paint splotches, 55
Nomad white and grey custom, 57 chevy red with silver streaks, 8 carbs.
59 Silver Impala HT. LARGE 1/18th scale '57 150 series sedan hot rod, was
out in golden yellow, now out in Purple as well. $20 Also a new Limited
Edition series with yellow Nomad with 4? motors, expensive at $20 for two
cars, in a black box.

Matchbox : sky blue '55 convertible, with Matchbox logo/sign on the
doors, Official parade car on the rear quarters. yellow '57 chevy
convertible with red/black stripes on side.

Johnny Lightning : dusk pearl '57 chevy hardtop, metallic red '57 chevy
hardtop, $2 each. Muscle series '57 hardtop, green, $3-4. NEW SERIES, Rat
Fink specials, blue 57 HT ( has picture of the monster-looking guys like
on the t-shirts driving wild looking cars with flames, etc, but cars in
package are just standard ) $4.

Racing Champions : Lots of different models, from NASCAR to the cheapy
sets of 5 for $3 at Target stores. Some in standard colors, others in
wild paint schemes in the 5-packs. 57 Nomad, '57 HT, 55 HT. Also has
selection of 1/25th scale NASCAR versions of '55 and '57 Chevy HTs, and
55 / 57 Sedan Deliveries, and '57 Nomad.

Ertl : American Muscle series, new metal kits, has a black/white '57
Nomad for $15-18, you assemble it, already pre-painted. In 1/25th scale?

Hotwheels : '56 Flashsider chevy, in yellow with Hot Rod printed on
fender. Has a set out with a '58 or '59 maroon truck with oldie wooden
power boat on a trailer.

Matchbox : Cool new '57 Coke truck, 1/43rd scale, even has the twin hood
rockets and optional bumper guards, $10

Ertl : American Muscle series, has a selection of 1/18th scale Cameo's
and Stepsides to choose from, red, orange, aqua, etc., up to $20

Johnny Lightning : Postal Truck series, 1/64th,has both a white and a
gold Cameo truck. Around $4

There's a series out with a '61 chevy truck, I think it's by Racing
Champions, but not sure, in 1/43rd scale. They also have a Hot Rod series
and an Oldie series with Pepsi and Coke trucks in '55 and '57 years.
About $7.

Great places to look.... K-mart, Wal-Mart, Toys R
Us, Target, Ames. Best selection is at Toys R Us, but prices are higher.
Walmart is always good.

Other items of interest : Matchbox has been
releasing lots of NEW non-car items, to differentiate itself from
Hotwheels ( Mattel owns both now, BTW ). Items include : Police
motorcycle, off-road motorcycle, Dune Buggy, several boats, Jet-ski,
Horse van w/horses, cattle truck w/cattle, old plane, new Ultralight
airplane, several helicopters, a UFO, submersible , farm equipment like
combine, tractor, snow tractor, etc. I'll bet the motorcycles will be
collectible in the future. Unfortunately, the off-road version has a
kick-stand in the down position, so I can see that will be broken
off alot in played-with toys, lol. Well, that about wraps up my dialogue
for now. But there are LOTS of new 55-59 Chevy car toys out now, so if
you have any interest in collecting, or beginning one, nows a good time,
as there's lots to chose from at the moment. So at least go look! C ya,

Jerry Casper

Just a quick note on the value of this site in GETTING PARTS.

We're still working on our '56 convertible. Regrettably, it had been used
as a parts car, so we keep finding we need parts in the restoration. It
should be done in early-April, or so we hope.

Last week we found we needed mounting clips for our accessory fender and
grille guards. Also, inside door pillar stainless. No luck with the
national suppliers. These parts are not reproduced.

I thought about the accessory guards and a man I'd met at a swap meet 2 1/2
years ago. His name is Emory Bishop and he lives in San Diego, CA. He had
some beautiful accessory guards when we first met him, so I wondered if he
had the mounting clips. These are NOT as easy to fabricate as some might
think.

Emory wrote a very nice piece that was posted on this site in
early-January. I found his e-mail address and sent him a message. I said
we needed the mounting clips and inside door pillar mouldings, if he had
them. That was on Friday of last week. He wrote back that he'd be out of
town but would let me know on Monday of this week.

When we talked on Monday, after 12 noon, Emory said he'd send me the clips
and the door mouldings right away. The price was quite reasonable. Two
days later, on Wednesday, we got the package through UPS.

Emory was also helpful in our finding a source for a polished billet grille
for our '56. There was nothing in it for him but he made a very helpful
suggestion we're following. When we get the grille I'll confirm details
for the benefit of others out there.

If you need a part for your classic car you might contact Emory Bishop.
His e-mail address is mainlychevy@webcombo.net

Greetings all,
Since this is the down season in terms of classic cars for me, I've been

cleaning/reorganizing my storage spaces. I still have many parts that I
would like to get rid of, and I was going to load my '56 Chevy wagon up
with
as much as I could when I get it running and take it all to a swap meet.
But
I would like to sell as much as I could off now. I can email you a long
list
of the used '55-'57 Chevy parts I have, but this is some of the stuff I
have:
4dr sedan headliner sawteeth retainers $25set, '57 150/'56 210&150 wagon
upper quarter panel paint dividers $35ea, '55 grille has pits; most
suitable
for painting $15, complete '55 taillight assemblies (cracked lenses,
pitted
chrome) $20, 210 hardtop left lower vent window molding; excellently
polished $35, '56 recirculating heater control panel; no defroster cable,
nice chrome $25, station wagon liftgate stainless trim, upper or lower
$20ea, '57 150 2dr right door molding $25. Take everything listed here
for
$200 and save yourself a couple bucks. I have a lot more than listed here!

Email me and I'll hook you up with the list of stuff I have. I'm in
eastern
Pennsylvania.

Bob, I am looking for an application for the following carburetor:
Rochester
4GC, tag number 7024122. My suspicion is that it is from a 70s Chevy
pickup
with a 350 engine. Any help from the readers of the list would be great!
