Sometime back someone posted that they had a source for the book

THE HOT ONE CHEVROLET 1955-1957 by Pat Chappell. Would you please send
in that information again. Also, if any list member knows Pat Chappell,
would you ask
her if the book is still available?

<< Hi Bob,

I just wanted to thank you for your time and effort in maintaining the
55-57 list. I enjoy receiving it very much.

Editor's note. I am not telling you my age but when I first came to
Orange County, Tustin Avenue was a 2 lane road with not stop lights. A
lot
of high school kids "run out of gas" on Tustin avenue at night.

Bob, I can remember when all of your area was covered with Orange Groves
!!!
Who knows, your house may have been built on the very ground where an
orange
tree once grew !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Richard (does this give away MY age
or
what?)

Editor's note. My house WAS built where an orange grove was.

Bob,

I finally diagnosed what was wrong with my carburator and it was in fact a
bad float that was making the gas pour out the gasket seam.

Nevertheless, I am in the market for a good or NOS Rochester Model BC
carburator for my '55 235 six. Actually, a float assembly would be great
if
someone has a spare one that works laying around. I wish someone would
quote me a price. I would prefer one with the metal cover over the
automatic
choke housing with the heat tube that goes down to the exhaust manifold.
The
other style has a plastic cover and the tube comes out the side -- they are

aftermarket but work ok if you bend the tube to fit. If anyone has one of

these please contact me directly at:

oldcars55@aol.com

Thanks so much and keep up the good work.

Bob;

Saw your note on a friend of yours looking for a restoration shop for
his 56 convertible in Southern California.
There are a couple of them I'm aware of, one in Huntington Beach, D&P,
and another in Calabasis, Chuck Smith. Both of these shops do full
service, from frame offs to adding air conditioning.
Be happy to give more details if needed.
Your news letter is sure gaining a lot of interest, and contributions
seem to be improving also--keep up the good work!!!!

Editor's note. I have seen Darrell and Peggy (D&P) work and it is
outstanding.
Does anyone know if you still have a long wait to get your car in to their
shop?

Hey Bob--
In response to your question about walnut shells to remove paint. Yes,
walnut shell blasting has been used for years to remove paint. However,
this has been replaced by PMB or plastic media blasting which you've
probably heard more about. It works real well if you don't want to use
chemical paint stripper. The only downside is that you have to mask off
anything or any area that you don't want the blast media to go into.
It's like a sandstorm in the blast booth and it goes everywhere. Most
places that sandblast now also have PMB for paint removal.
