Hi Bob, I was wondering how much does a 55 2dr sedan with a V8 STD trans
Delray weights. It doesn't stated it on the title, and that is one of the
question for DMV.
Thanks for any info

Hi everybody- I know this is a bit tangential to the
main topic here, but... does anyone know of a company
that prints checks with a 55/6/7 chevy background?
Or even classic 50's cars would be good enough....

Hello Bob, Hope you had a great long weekend..Just a quick question, I'm
outside working on the '55 and just noticed something. I'm going to be
putting a set of headers on the small block when it all comes together. I
still have the frame mounts that were for the end of the block, front of
the
trans, still in place. My question to someone that knows is; Should these
mounts be removed for the headers to have clearance??? Yes, I will be using
side mounts and a rear trans mount. Thanks again for a Super Site Bob.

Bob,
Between June 1-10, the Hot Rod Power Tour 2000 is on the highways
between California and Florida. Friday they stopped in Phoenix and spent
the afternoon/evening at Firebird Drag Strip. It is an interesting
collection of cars -some beaters and some fully detailed out cars. About
ten vendors are on the road too. They were giving away lots of
promotional items - T-shirts, caps and decals - and there were some great
cars, but not too many tri-fives. The main topic was the heat, but hey
it was only 103 on Friday. Last weekend it hit 114 here. You can check
out the route at
http://emapusaevents.com/motorsports/hotrodpowertour/FactSheet2000.asp
and if you're in the vicinity it is worth the trip.

Bob,

I think I saw on this list sometime in late April a post about replacing
the element in an original oil bath air cleaner with a modern dry
filter. I have a 55 with 4 bbl air cleaner.

The List member gave a part number for a K & N filter, but I must have
written the number down wrong because a local dealer for K & N products
looked it up and it is an invalid number (#A090A6).

Does anyone have this info, or info on any other product?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Dave,

I've invested considerable effort into adequate cooling for a BB (454) in a

55. The only configuration I have found to satisfy my tests is a Griffin
aluminum radiator for 55 Chevy with a shroud and a Black Widow fan (about
1200cfm, I think). That seems to provide adequate cooling on a hot day
idling in traffic (but no guarantees!). I have been through many
iterations - the "desert cooler" radiators did not work. I have even
talked with Chevy engineers Detroit for advice. I also have tried various

temp sensor locations, various water pumps (any high volume unit seems OK),

various sized fans (currently 18" Flex), with and without shroud, and
wetting agents before arriving at the final formula. The main ingredient
was the aluminum radiator as designed by Griffin for 55 Chevy. Other
aluminum radiators probably would work as well, but I have not tested any
other al units. Also, remember that 1) water alone is a better coolant
than water + antifreeze, 2) it is better to have lower flow than higher
flow through the radiator (allows more time for heat transfer), and 3)
running the air-fuel mixture lean will cause over-heating. Griffin now
offers an aluminum shroud but it is very rough; however, after
considerable grinding and polishing and adjusting and then powder coating,
it came out looking very good.

Bob,
Does anyone know of a place in the Los Angeles or Orange County
Calif. area where I can get a Cast Iron Powerglide transmission worked on?
I have 2 that need to be rebuild and everyplace I've called said that they
don't work on the old Cast Iron transmissions any more. One place said
that the retired owner sometimes will come in and do one, but not very
often at a starting cost of $250.00, but would probably end up a lot more.
Any suggestions please email me at: Marty28447@aol.com or at:

A 1962 3.08 posi rear end will fit with no modifications. As far as I know
the splines are all the same. The only difference that I know is that a 57
rear end is a little wider than a 55 or 56 so that the axles are longer.

Bob,

My 210 interior package is number code 505 which is dark brown gabardine
cloth with light brown pattern cloth. I have never seen this four-door
interior combination in any catalog anywhere and cannot understand it.

I would like to know, has anyone along the list ever seen patterns for
these
four door interiors? I have received some responses along the list --
there
are apparently others who feel the same way. Does anybody think that if
enough of us wrote to either Chevrolet or perhaps CARS that we could get
them
to make up the different patterns. This seems ridiculous -- I don't want
to
put a Bel Air interior in my car!

David,
I often wonder too why some stock interiors are not reproduced. The
interior you are talking about (55 Chevy 210 sedan, not the DelRay) is
color
code #505(dark brown gabardine cloth with light brown pattern cloth). The
green and blue interiors are reproduced, so why can't the brown one also be

reproduced? It's just a matter of getting the correct color dye, right? I

have a 56 Chevy 210 4dr wagon, and I wish that the original ivory starfrost

vinyl and charcoal pattern vinyls were reproduced...
