Hi Bob and list members,

On a recent list I see I am not the only one with fuel leaks when
the tank is full. I too would like to hear comments on this problem.

I have another question for the members.....I recently rebuilt and
reinstalled the 327 in my Nomad. Among the modifications was installation
of a K&N air
filter and matching sub stack to sit on top of a Carter AFB 625. With the
sub stack in
place the car has a really bad stumble when flooring the accelerator. Then
suddenly it
takes of like a rocket. I removed the sub stack and the problem goes away.
The purpose of the
stack is to smooth out the air flow and add velocity. Now a 327 bored
.030 over will only aspirate so much air volume. Could I be overwhelming
the carb with air flow
until the fuel volume catches up? I have checked and double checked the
linkage. It is all
clear and not binding up with the stack.

Comments please!!!

I also recall seeing something - I seem to recall in either Hot Rod or
Popular
Science - about Mickey Thompson cutting the Tempest 4 in half to produce a
two
cylinder. How successful this was I'm not sure -

Good morning, Keith!
I had the cast iron main case T-10 with an aluminum tailpiece in my first
'55/HT.
(I'm pretty sure it was the 58-63 edition, but I couldn't swear to it).
Anyway, it was behind a 409/409 dual quad engine, and it held up fine!
I was 19 at the time and I abused the heck out of it!

If you do get the 58-63 with the cast iron main case, make or buy a tranny
jack, 'cause that sucker was heavy.
Hope that helps!

Regards,
Wayne McGinnis

I have a 1956 Chevy Hardtop with a Original 6 Cylinder. The motor has an
Original A/C Oil Filter that leaks around the sides and the top where the
bolt goes in. I need the gaskets to stop the problem I believe....does
anyone know where I can get or how I can stop?

TOTALLY AGREE, BOB, I WON'T EVEN LOOK OR INQUIRE ABOUT AN ADVERTISED CAR
THAT DOESN'T HAVE THE PRICE ON IT! IT IS DEFINITELY
OVERPRICED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! RICHARD

Bob,

You stated in the last list:

"It has been my experience that when someone does not put a price in an
ad the car is ALWAYS overpriced. List members what to you think?"

I would agree that someone who runs a car ad and does not state the
price is probably asking a lot of money, but I would not agree that the
car is necessarily OVERPRICED.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Dear BOB, and Tri-Five Chevy List readers..........

If anyone has anything positive to say about trading 'classics,' or has
knowledge of a legitimate dealer who accepts trades in partial payment for
a
classic auto, please contact me ASAP.

While I've contacted two or three dealers who have web sites that SAY they
take trades, they've turned out to be erroneous. They always have a reason
why they can't take a trade. They must have been personal injury lawyers in
a
previous lifetime:)

I have a California "Black Plate" '48 Buick Sedannette I wish to
trade--along
with CASH--for a '55, '56, or '57 Chevy. (Prefer a '55). Mine is an
excellent
driver, tailored here from CA in '98. White on gray, WWW, radio, heater,
search light, excellent chrome, glass. Needs 'show quality' paint job,
little
else.

Looking for 2DHT that is listed in the $23,000 to $27,000 range. Wish to
trade for $10k cash difference. Please let me know if any of you have had a

good or 'great' experience trading up. Also, if a dealer is out there who
reads this and wishes to respond, please feel free to do so.

As I've mentioned in a previous posting, I will 'throw in' a rare, vintage
Beach Boys poster from '64/'65, worth approximately $2,500.00. This is an
original, NOT a reproduction. I should know. I produced the concert! <A

Bob:
Do you or any of your readers have an idea for a classic roof rack for a
Nomad? I'd like to put the surfboards (or mountain bike) on the roof rack,

but can't stand the thought of installing an ugly gutter mounted set of
bars. Is there a temporary or permanent chrome or billet rack that looks
like it was made for a Nomad? Was there a factory rack or replica I am not

aware of? The stock Nomad roofline is so nice I am afraid to screw it up.

Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks and best regards,
Eric Anderson (Cormad owner--have Corvette and half Nomad)

Editor's note. Talk to Bob Barnes at 323-754-4126. He has a rack for
surfboards on his Nomad.

I'm looking for something for a different car then a 55-57, but I
understand
the 55-57 wagon had a vinyl material in the cargo compartment, and then it
is
available. I need some for a Plymouth, but I don't know who might have it.
Any chance anybody out there does? Please e-mail me, as I don't get to read

these post's to often. Thanks!

A little humor for you.

A couple drove several miles down a country road not saying a word. An
earlier discussion
had lead to an argument and neither wanted to concede their position. As
they passed a barnyard
of mules and pigs, the husband sarcastically asked, "Relatives of Yours?"

"Yep", the wife replied, "In Laws"
