Hi Bob, Need some help on installing seat belts in a "55 hardtop. My plan

is to install three in front & three in back like most later model
Chevrolets. Where do they attach? i.e., how far from seat/door/etc. Will
accept any help or maybe a reference publication. Thanks. Jim

P.S. I see I'm not the only one unfamiliar with Lojack.

Editor's note. The current (September) issue of Classic Chevy World
discusses this.

hi bob,

for those asking about lojack, it is an electronic device that is hidden in
a spot normally unsuspecting from the thief. it is hidden in the frame or
somewhere that no one will ever find it until it is too late

this device is then activated and can be traced by the local police. the
only problem is that you need to check with your police department to see
if they have this trackind device.

most largely populated area have this monitoring service available but in
out of the way places it may not be in use

the lojack service works like a security service for your home

there is an initial installation fee then there is a monthly service fee

the best thing about this service is that you can recover your vehicle in a
matter of hours before there is too much damage to it.

Hi Bob,
The Lojack system works. It is installed in the car and even the
owner doesn't know where it is located. That way it can't be
compromised. If the car is stolen, the Lojack is activated and it sends
out a signal that the police can home-in on. Last spring, here in
Baltimore, they recovered a car that was already on a ship going to
South America. They also found several other cars on the ship that had
been stolen, all because of the Lojack on one vehicle. Wild Bill

DEAR BOB, THE LETTER ABOUT THE LOJACK.THE LOJACK IS THE BEST DEVICE ON THE
MARKET TO RECOVER STOLEN CARS AND TRUCKS.IT IS A LOCATOR HIDDEN IN THE
FRAME WORK OF THE VEHICLE. ONLY THE INSTALLERS COULD TELL YOU WHERE IT `S.
LOCATED. AND ONCE IT IS ACTIVATED IT SENDS A TRACKING SIGNAL TO A
SATELLITE TRACKING SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE IS LOCATED WITHIN MINUTES.THE
DEVICE HAS IT`S. OWN POWER SOURCE AND CAN ONLY BE DISABLED IF FOUND.
BELIEVE ME BOB THE INSTALLER KNOWS WHERE TO HIDE THEM. I BELIEVE THERE IS A
MONTHLY SERVICE FEE WHICH IS VERY REASONABLE AND WELL WORTH IT! CHECK WITH
YOUR LOCAL AUTO DEALERSHIP, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEND YOU TO THE
DIRECTION OF LOJACK. THANKS, AL.

Bob,

sorry to hear about your car. there is a device that i saw on one of
those infomercials that seems like it truly does work. while 99% of
what's on infomercials seems to be nonsense this is one exception.
basically you put this gadget on the brake pedal and pull it up. it is
something like the steering wheel bar (which is by the way useless)
but works on the brake pedal. they sell it here at Autobarn so you don't
have to pay the high price through the toll free no. on the infomercial.
you may see it on tv early sat or sunday mornings.

if you are going to a move or dinner you may want to disconnect one of the
wires from the distributor. leave the 'boot' of the wire resting on the
distributor cap so it looks like it's connected.
or, get a 'dummy' wire and replace the real one. use a real one and cut
it in half and tape both halves so there is no conductivity. then tape the
whole thing together. tape the entire wire so it looks like the original.
when you leave the car someplace just replace the real cable on your
distributor with the 'dummy' one. the one i mean is the shortest one that
goes from the distr. to the coil.

Hi Bob,Could you let the others know about these parts I
need?Thanks,Dave......Still need a firewall for a 55 chevy and both doors
for a 55 sedan (two door)and various patch panels from a few spots on the
body that have rust holes on the car I'm working on.Looking for someone who
has a parts car that can cut these spots out.I also need the bracket that
the top bolt threads thru on the right front fender, its the bracket that
is spot welded to the cowl area and has a nut in it for the bolt to thread
thru...hope thats clear.I also need front and rear seats for a 55 2 door
sedan,I hope that I might find these seats close to California's bay area
so that I can drive and pick them up,Can supply pictures of the rust spots
on my car so you could cut out the same area,Please give me an idea of the
price you're thinking of,Thanks,Dave
