Dear Bob,
I hope you & yours had a most appetizing Thanks Giving Day? And you are
looking forward to a joyous upcoming Holiday Season, as we are? It's been
awhile since I've written to you & all the EList Members. The reason I'm
writing is for some important information? Is there any of the EList
Members out there that know when The Boston World of Wheels will be held?
This event usually takes place in January of every year at the Expo Center
in Boston, Massachusetts. The reason I'm asking if there is anyone that's
knows what the date of this car show is because they advertise so late that
by the time you find out when it is you're usually not prepared to go to
it. And it becomes a Last Minute thing to get organized to go. I want to be
totally prepared for it this year! So if anyone knows the dates of this
show I would deeply appreciate it? Thanks to All for your support. Keep up
the Great Job you are doing on this list Bob! Happy Holidays to All!

I loved your problem with Joe and the birds. I just retired from Boeing
after 30 years of designing airplanes. Most people get the correct
answer. It is a common belief that anything that flies like a plane or
bird puts pressure on something under it. This is just not the case. A
fully loaded 747 weighs many tons. You can stand at the end of a runway
directly under a 747 taking off and be perfectly safe. You will not feel
the weight of the 747.

Bob, I would like to run an ad for 57 chev parts.

57 2-dr hdtp door panel kit minus the left door panel. I purchased this kit

new from CARS after they refused to sell me just the left door panel. It
is
red/black for a Belair and I am asking $200 plus shipping.
Also I have the right and left lower quarter window frames. Both sides
have
been re-chromed and the right side is show quality while the left side is
driver quality. I am asking $75.00 for right & $50.00 for left or $100 for
both plus shipping from central TX. John at 512-251-7966.

Sorry, but if the springs and shocks on your 64 Impala SS are really tired,
there is not much one can do other than to replace them.

One can sometimes find hard rubber spacers in various auto parts stores
which
are designed to be inserted between the adjacent coils on a vehicles'
springs
(thus raising ride height a bit). These are really not much more than
Band-Aids,
though. The spring rate will be altered significantly, and I doubt you'd
like
the ride. One can never be certain that one of these spacers won't come out
at
some inopportune time either, and the abrupt affect on handling could prove
embarrassing at the least - if not outright dangerous.

Regarding Dave Houghton's inquiry as to whether 4-door front door
hinges will work on 2-door doors, the 1929-1955 Chevrolet Parts and
Accessories Catalog list only one number for front door hinges for
'55's. Actually, it list two part numbers - one for the box and one
for the spring. FYI, the part #'s are: for the BOX, right
(w/spring) is 4156606 (cost - $1.95); BOX, left (w/spring) is 4156607
(cost - $1.95); STRAP, right (w/bushing) is 4156602 (cost - $2.35); and
STRAP, left (w/bushing) is 4156603 (cost - $2.35).

When Dave says he doesn't have the hinges, I'm not sure if he talking
about both the box and strap or just the strap. I haven't taken one
apart, but I assume you need both to make them work properly. I do
have a set of four doors with hinges (box and strap) if he needs more
parts.

He is a question for your list members. Why do the wheels on a car in
movies appear to turn backwards sometimes, forward sometimes, and stay
still sometimes when the car is moving?

Bob,

I know the list is specifically for 55, 56 & 57 Chevys, but I am in need of
help outside of that area. I am hoping you will post this message anyway.

Recently, we purchased a 1966 Buick Skylark with a 300 V8 engine. We also
recently purchased a 401 "Nailhead" engine from a 1963 Buick LeSabre,
(Electra). I am in need of people who have knowledge of this engine and
it's possible application into the Skylark(like in the GS model). In my
area, New Brunswick Canada, there is little or no resources available to
ask
a few questions about this engine. If there is anyone on the list that
could help me I would appreciate an e-mail correspondence so I can ask
those
questions. The questions deal with exhaust manifold types and similarities
to "big" block Chevys, 2 speed dynaflo transmissions and the possibility
that they would fit inside the tunnel on the Skylark.

I would also like to open a correspondence with person who know of these
engines for future resource.
Can anyone help me?

Again, sorry and thank you,

Marc Mazerolle

Hi Bob,

I am looking for advice from your readers. I have a 57 nomad (was factory
air, now modified). Anyway, I have a mystery AC all-in-one unit under the
dash. I have replace the compressor, condenser, dryer, hoses etc. under
the hood, but it still does not blow cold enough, nor does it blow with
sufficient volume. Does anyone have ideas about modified AC systems for
this car (ex. limousine air)? What I have now can't cool the rear area of
the car. Help. Thanks.

Hello to Everyone,

I have a few items to ask about. First, I am ready to sandblast the body of
my 57. I could use my friend's industrial compressor for free but we do not
know if it is to large or not. It is a 180 CFM (4 cylinder diesel motor) Is
this to big?

I am now ready to sale my original motor and transmission. It is a 265 with
a 3 speed trans. I will throw in everything you need to put it in your
Chevy, the mounts, transmission linkage. You can see a picture of the motor
(and the rest of my car ) at my web site. Anybody interested, or any one
who has advice for me to try to sale this please let me know. I am located
near Bristol, VA.

See the engine here:
http://home.naxs.com/shew/homesite005.htm

Two of my all time favorite 57 Chevy movies are The Hollywood Knights
(1980) and Thunder and Lightning (1977). I just learned the Knights is now
available in VHS. I ordered a copy from www.oncue.com for just $14.41
including postage. I would like to know if anyone has a copy of Thunder and
Lightning they would like to sale or make a copy. So far on line I haven't
found it no less then $23.00.

As always thanks to everyone who shares information on this list
