As you can see from some of the posts in this list, there is some confusion
about the cars for sale
that I send out to you.

I know some people are not interested in seeing cars for sale so they are
sent to you on a separate
list. If you are not interested, I suggest you just delete the message.

Some of the cars for sale are from list members. Other cars for sale are
provided by list members
as a service to fellow list members. They are copied from various sources
and sent to me. I put
them together and send them out to you.

I have no idea if the prices for these cars for sale are reasonable or not.
I will leave that
judgement to you. Also, I do not know the seller of these cars or the
condition of these cars.
Again I will leave that to your judgement. I don't get any money from
anyone for listing there
cars for sale list on the list. It is just a service I provide you.

There is no way of telling the condition of a car from an ad about it.
When talking to the seller,
ask lots and lots of questions. If it has been restored, ask to see the
bills for the restoration. Then
contact the person or shop that did the restoration and ask for their frank
opinion of the car.

I don't recommend cars on this list for you to buy. I suggest that if you
are looking for a car to
buy, you contact a local club and ask them for someone to help you buy a
car. Please offer to
pay for that persons time. It will be money well spent. Most clubs have
very knowledgeable
people that will be glad to help you. If they will not take any money for
their help, make a
donation to their club.

As some people have noted, there are some very high priced cars listed for
sale. You should
remember that in the end, it is the buyer who sets the price of a car. The
seller can ask any price
they want. Until someone offers to pay that price, the car will not sell.
I do not know if a high
price for a car is justified or not. Only you can do that. If you see a
car that you think is priced to
high, offer a lower price. It might get accepted. You can always offer
more if you want to.

I invite your comments about the listing of cars for sale.

Bob and List Members,
This note is to vent my frustrations on the
item that is on the top of my list of "Pet Peeves":
INSURANCE.
First, let me say I do have my classics insured
with Hagerty and though I (fortunately) have not had
to make a claim, they are very easy to deal with and
(relatively) reasonable. They recognize that once you
are charged for one liability fee, each additional
vehicle is added for comp/collision for a specified
amount. I'd recommend them.
The GRIPE: Why is it that, at least in every
state I've lived in, on my "daily drivers, I have to
pay liability on each vehicle I own. Between the wife
and me we have nearly a dozen vehicles insured. It
gets so expensive that we only have comp/collision on
the newest one. Let's face it, we can't drive any
more than if we each only had 1 vehicle. I mean,
there's only so many hours in the day to be behind the
wheel. My question is, why can't the insurance
companies insure ME for liability and have ME covered
in WHATEVER I drive??? I think short of an "Insured
Revolt" nothing is going to get changed when we're
making the insurance companies so rich and powerful
with the premiums they have legislated for us to pay.
Thanks for hearing me out, -Delivery Dale

I was given your name by Dan Bowen from the Tx. Classic Chevy Club,
regarding where I can get my '57 Chevy hood hinges re-worked or buy a
rebuilt pair already. The ones I have won't keep the hood up anymore, so if
you can help, I'd appreciate it.

I've noticed in cars for sale list at least two dealers advertising.cnc and
hawks both out of the Phoenix Az. area. They both have web sites advertising
there wares.I'am not going to start in on the cars they are trying to sell
but, I was wondering if we can post OUR cars for sale on their web
sites.Sure we would have to give them 40% sales fees but what the heck, at
those prices I'am sure it wouldn't hurt any!!Has the Bob Ford list become a
commercial adventure?Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Hi Bob,
I enjoy the list, keep up the good work. Would you please pass this
info on to everyone on the list.
A word of caution to those who plan on buying products from Select
Products in Miramar, Florida. DON'T!! Their shipping costs are
outrageous...
I ordered some Tweed material from them and they charged me $50.00. I
checked this out on the UPS site and shipping should have only been $10.46.

I was very upset when I found this out, so I called them and all he told me

was give me your phone number and I will look into this for your and call
you back. I never did hear anything from the guy. Thought I would pass this

on to all of you. If you know of anyone who plans on buying from this
company, give them a heads up.

Thanks,

Greetings Bob & Fellow List Members.... This is a site that I found that
is all about Drive-In Movies.... If I were to vote for a last movie to
be shown (at the Drive-In) it would definitely be "American Graffiti"
With all the neat cruisin cars and cruisin music it to was a story about
the end of an era..... " More American Graffiti" was an okay movie too
but for me it just didn't have the same impact.... I don't know how many
black 55 chevys were used to make the original "A.G." however, in the
rollover scene if you watch frame by frame another 55 was used..... The
second one didn't even have a dual exhaust system.... Enjoy the list as
is.... Keep the trivia coming.... Dave Durchenwald 56 Bel Air

Bob

First I would like to add my thanks again for this list.

I have Haggerty Ins. on my 47 Indian as well as my 57 Chevy. I haven't
had to put in a claim yet but their prices are sure a lot better than
any "normal" insurance company. My Indian insurance dropped from $650
at Farmers to $192 with Haggerty's, and the coverage is better.

Now a question. I here many people telling how great Ralph Roberts is.
How do I get a hold of him? You may have already put this in an earlier
newsletter, but I must have missed it.

Also I want to thank all of you that answered my earlier email question
about whether or not to upgrade my 57 conv. I still haven't decided but
as least I have more information to think about.

One last thing. I was at the Good Guys car show on Saturday, 3/31/01.
They had an auction of classics. I saw a lot of tri-fives and I was
especially interested in the 57 convertibles that went through. I
didn't see any sell while I was watching but I did see some big bids. A
beautiful red 57 with factory fuel injection went through. It looked
like it was brand new to me. I saw no flaws in the car myself. The bid
got up to $80,000 and it was a no sell as the owner wanted $90,000.
Just thought you all should know that if they are done correctly they
will bring the high dollars.

Hope you all have a great summer season at the shows.

Hi Bob,
Excellent work with the list! I somehow accumulated a bunch of 56 Chevy
hoodbar extensions that I would like to get rid of as one lot. I've got 2
passenger sides and 3 driver sides. Three of them are very nice; two of
them
are good candidates for rechroming. Take what you want for your car and
sell
the others. Asking $45 for all five. I also have a good used 55 standard
shift 6cyl camshaft/timing gear for $25. Shipping is extra on all these
parts.

One of my wonderful daughters bought me "American Graffiti" and "More

carried. This was just my opinion.
