Hello Bob,

Thanks to Thomas Johnson and Warren for the explanation regarding the
difference between a 57 210 sedan and a Delray coupe.

To Richard on the water pump identification:

The number 3736567 is a 6 cylinder water pump for a 57 Chevy 235 in3
engine.
It is an original GM water pump. It should have
the GM letters under the part number.

messages. He is looking for some 57 wheels and I have some if he will
email me or call me a 423-479-6317. I also have a 56 Chevy 4 barrel intake
and original carburetor for sale. I have a 57 Chevy 4 barrel intake for
sale also. Thanks, keep up the excellent work, and as always remember that

mike

try this:

call jeg's. ask them for the name of the company that made this part.

call them and ask for the sales manager for your area. or someone who
knows alot about the company. not just anyone who answers.

if they say no, ask if they have any left over.

if they say no, ask for their largest distributor or place that carries
their parts.

call this distributor and ask if they have the part.

try calling summit racing. maybe they can give you other info about the
part or may carry it.

HI Bob, I will be going to Portland for the swap meet coming up in the
next week or so and I have here a 55 2 door hardtop body only that has been
modified in the rear for different tail lights and in the front for dual
headlights but the lower metal on the fenders is in great shape as is the
main body of the car also. I have an extra hood and decklid in great shape
also. If anyone wants any parts off of this parts body please e-mail me at
turbot@clarkston.com and I can take any pictures of anything you might need
and bring it to portland at the meet as some friends and I have a booth
there.
Thanks

Bob, thanks for the wonderful job on the list!!!!! I have a response, and
I
hope someone on this list can help me. This is in response to
Tjjpgarrett's
post. From a web source, Tjjpgarrett wrote, "Take a set of spindles from a

68-72 Chevelle, Monte Carlo, or Grand Prix. Swap sides and bolt to the
stock
A-arms of the 55-57 Chevy and you have easy disc brakes." I was wondering
if
anyone on the list knew more about this or did this to their car. My
question
is about the master cylinder. Would I use a master cylinder out of a 68-72

chevelle? I heard they would possibly bolt right onto the 4 original
master
cylinder bolts on the car. Is that true? Also, what proportioning valve
would I use to separate the front from the rear? Would I even need one? I

have the original "pre bent" brake lines, but I can buy more line and flare

them together to separate the front from the back. I am not concerned
about
showing the car; however, I dont want to do any welding to the body or
frame.
I thought the 500-700 dollars for a conversion kit was kinda expensive.
Thanks for anyones help

Hi bob,

In response to Cliff Waldran"

Cliff,

I didn't use ANYTHING special to Sandblast my Hinges. Just Sand you can
purchase at any Feed store that sells this type of medium (like crushed
walnut shells).

What gave me the idea of doing this was the set of Hinges I had Glass
beaded
at my favorite Parts house so they could get Cad. plated. When I got them
back, I noticed how stiff they were. So I thought I'd give Sandblasting a
set that were weak a try? It worked.

Thanks. RJ

PS. To T. Rock. A friend has a straight Axle out of a 57 that he's tried to
sell, but no one wants. I believe he wanted $150 for it, and the Axle
itself
is Chrome. Thanks.

Gee Bob, was our American also the pilot? Hence his first name was
Captain

Editor's note. Although he is a pilot, he did not fly the plane. His
first name is George.

My guess to the answer to the riddle. It's either the Pope or the
President.

Chevyjack

Editor's note. You are right for both of them. Heads of state don't need
passports. The Pope is
the head of state of the smallest country in the world.

I sincerely hope that everyone here do everything possible to help this
fair maiden in distress!

Round up as many '57's as possible for this noble and worthy cause.

There should be not one or two but legions of '57's descending upon this
town in California like locusts.

The highways should be choked with '57's! Packed, I tell you.
Onward and upward.

passport for 4 years also.
I guess they were saving the government money by not getting a passport.

Bob,

I have a 57 Chevy with a 350/350 combo. My speedo runs about 10 mph above
what I am really doing. I gather this is from the gear ratio inside of the
speedo itself.

Does anyone know what I need to do to make the speedo reflect the correct
speed?

Thanks
Dave

Editor's note. Most speedo shops can solve that problem. The have boxes
that change the cable speed.

Hi, Bob, I too am looking for wheels, 1955 15" with nubs for full wheel
covers. They need to be 6-bolt to fit my '55 pickup. So far, I have been
unsuccessful. If I spot 14" I'll be happy to tell you, and would
appreciate
it if you do likewise. Sorry, never heard of Wheelsmith.

I am interested to know if anyone has any idea about changing the
transmission fluid on the 8 cyl 55 powerglide. My transmission works very
well and has given no cause for
concern. However, when I tried to change the fluid by removing the drain
plug at the bottom of the
transmission case, no fluid came out. The transmission fluid is always kept
up to the full mark on the dip stick. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,
John Noyes

Editor's note. John, put your finger through the hole where you remove the
tranny drain plug. I bet you fill find a thick sludge that keeps the
tranny oil from coming out. You have got to have oil in the tranny for it
to work.

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT
Massachusetts Introduces Legislation to Ban the Sale/Installation of
After market Exhaust Systems
A bill (H.B. 3593) has been passed in the Massachusetts Legislature’s
Joint
Committee on Public Safety that would prohibit the sale or installation of
“an exhaust system which has been modified in a manner which will
amplify or
increase the noise emitted by the exhaust.” This bill could soon be
voted
on by the full House of Representatives.
We Urge You to Contact Your State Legislators Immediately to Oppose This
Bill
• H.B. 3593 ignores the fact that after market exhaust systems are
designed
to make vehicles run more efficiently without increasing emissions.
• H.B. 3593 does not supply law enforcement with a clear standard to
enforce, allowing them to make subjective judgments on whether or not a
modified exhaust system is in violation.
• H.B. 3593 fails to recognize that aftermarket exhaust systems offer

increased performance, which can make a vehicle safer by improving its
ability to merge, pass, travel uphill, etc.
• H.B. 3593 would make it difficult for hobbyists to replace factory
exhaust systems with more durable and better-looking stainless steel ones.
Contact your state legislators to oppose this legislation. This bill
tramples on the rights of vehicle enthusiasts in Massachusetts. If you need

assistance in determining who your legislators are, please contact the
Massachusetts General Court at 617/722-1276. This information can also be
obtained by calling the SEMA Washington, D.C. office at 202/783-6007 or via

the Internet at
