Bob,
I've put up a really choice item onto eBay which ends this weekend. So if
anyones' interested in a factory original and numbers matching rebuilt
positraction unit for their '57 this is probably the best price one can get
it for.

To Paul looking for custom wheels for his 57.

One sight to look at is www.tire.com. This is the web site for Americas
Tire Company ( also known in certain other states as Discount Tire) click
on "to your door". From there click on wheels or on show me wheels which
is
interactive and will allow you to view tire and wheel combinations on
various new cars. It allows you to at least see what the combination will
look like mounted.

Hi Bob,
Thanx for the suggestion about the speedometer cable!
It is turning but somehow it wasn't connected to good
with the meter..
I got another question: I have an generator connected
installed and everything is running on DC (direct
current). My radio is a original tube radio and needs
12V AC (alternating current). I don't want to switch
back to an alternator, so here's my problem: I cant
turn on my radio! Does a convertor exist from 12 V DC
to 12V AC (the other way around!)???
I really like my old AM radio and don't want to replace
it..

Thanx

Hans

Editor's note. A large electronics parts store can get a converter for
you.
Are you sure your radio works on 12AC. This most unusual. As far as I
know
no car radio ever worked on 12 volts AC. There are a lot of converters
available to convert
12DC to 120 AC. From 120 AC to 12 AC requires just a simple transformer.

Bob, can you please post this message on your list. I live in N. Idaho & a

guy in town here has a 56 Chevy BA 2 dr. sedan for sale. I'll first mention

that this car is what I call a real basket case! He's asking $1800 bucks!
Told him he'll never get it. Think one could possibly get it for 1200 or
so.He says he's not gonna GIVE the car away, but I think he realizes he's
not
gonna get that price. It is sitting in his driveway FULL of parts inside of

it. Fenders, bumpers, etc. etc. etc. !!!!!!!!!!! Says he has Most of the
Stainless. There's no front seat & the back seat is a pair of rusty springs

in the car with the rest of the stuff! There's no glass! The engine is a
305 & trans. is a 3 speed on the floor! Car hasn't ran for about 4 or 5
years! His ad in our local paper read: "A Project For The Visionary"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy, he WASN"T KIDDING THERE !!!!!!!!
The good part is that it isn't totally a rust bucket! Yes, the floors
are gone, but the rest of the body is pretty straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even

the rockers aren't rusted thru! The car is now red & white, but was
originally Black & Yellow!!!!!! If anyone is interest in this project, you

can email me directly! Thanks much! Richard
