Hi Bob & List Members,
I have a new fiberglass front roll pan for a 56' Chevy for sale. This is a
custom pan for running the car without a bumper or with a 'Nerf Bar'. It
came
from C&P Chevy Parts. I don't think they make them anymore, so this is hard

to find. It cost $199. I will take $125 plus shipping.
I also have a good driver's side fender for a 57' for $100 + ship. And 2

57' hoods for $100 + ship each.
Also, a friend of mine is selling a 56' 265, completely rebuilt for
$1000
or best offer. The casting# is 3720991. The date code is H156(Aug 1,1956).
I live in Hyde Park,NY. You can e-mail me or call at (845)229-1024.

Lenny, thank you for your response on the shade in Syracuse. Doesn't break
our heart that someone left doggie doo at someone's "marked" spot. Maybe
catch you there next year too. Saw your car - very nice. We had a blue and
white 56 nomad.

Bob, Please post this question. I have a 1987 Camaro 700r in my 55
sedan.The
rear end is 3.70. The tires are 235 x60 x15. The speedometer reads at least

60 mph too high. The drive gear on the output shaft has 19 teeth. The
driven
gear has 37 teeth. I have had much trouble getting a speedo drive gear set
with correct ring and pinion angles to install into the tail housing. If
someone on Bob's list can tell me what two gears I need to calibrate the
speedometer, (part numbers will be necessary) I can handle the installation

end myself. I've changed the plastic gears quite a number of times with no
success rectifying the problem.Thanks, Nick

Editor's note. In my area, several speedometer shops have external gear
boxs to fix problems like
you have. They put your car on a dyno. and make the speedometer match the
real speed.

Bob,
Thanks so much for this wonderful list. It's a real joy to read, learn and
communicate with so many people, so many places. I am hoping that others on
the list will be participating in the San Berdoo Rte 66 Rendezvous Sept. 13
- 16. I belong to the Poor Boys car club from the Inland Empire area (San
Bernardino and Riverside Counties, CA). We are there every year and it is a
blast. If you're there look for me in a '57 210 Handyman 2 door wagon,
medium bright blue. I'll be cruisin' and hangin out all four days. Most
likely be parked on 4th street on the cruise route. Also, need to sell some
parts: heavy duty radiator near new, V-8 mount, two top tanks - one
original and one polished brass, new core. original '57 283 block bored
.040 over, never run, was original with my car.
Steering wheel ready to paint no horn ring or button. Delux heater parts.
Am looking for the outer frame to bumper brackets for '57, need 2 sets(2
right and 2 left) for the front and one set(L & R) for rear. These are the
corner bumper brackets.
Thanks again for a great list and hope to see you at Rte 66 Rendezvous.

Bob,
As usual, the Dream Cruise on Woodward Avenue in Detroit was GREAT.
Thousands of beautiful cars cruising; it took an hour to go 1 mile. After
cruising for awhile, we got out and walked. No rain until 10PM when the
police shut down the program (They do this every year so the residents can
get some rest on Saturday evening).

I have talked about Hagerty before. I believe they are a great place to
insure your vehicle. I have 3 cars (2-'57 Chevys & a '71 Cutlass Conv) and

pay around $225.00 a year from dollar 1. I had 1 claim with a cracked
window. I called them and they said: "Get it replaced and send us the
bill." I did, and have not heard a thing since.

Hi Bob: I was given you name and E-Mail address by the Matthews (Chevy
Club). We are in the market for a l955 or '56 Chevy Bel Air Sport Coupe
(two-door hardtop), and they mentioned as well as themselves attempting to
help us, that we could perhaps go on your list. We are joining the Chevy
Club. We would prefer a frame off restoration, or as good as we can get,
original as possible, etc. - colour is not of the utmost, however, if we
had a choice it would be coral and grey. Any other info you might need,
perhaps you could get back to us. Sincerely,

Thanks for the info on S.CALIF body shops. D & P were the first place I

Bob please post for insurance on your car.
Check out www.classiccollectors.com or 800-252-5233
this is the web site for Classic Collectors Ins Co., a div of Great
American
Ins CO's. I have been with them for 10 years (no claims) found them to be

inexpensive premium wise
my55210@aol.com >>

I have checked out several different classic car insurance companies,
including the ones that Classic Chevy & Late Great Chevys recommend! I was

very disappointed to find out that (yes, their prices are good) ALL of them

expect you to keep your car in a covered garage when you are NOT driving
it!
I told them that I do not have a garage to keep my car in, but I do keep it

in my driveway & COVERED when I'm not driving it. Well.............
according to them, that's not good enough & they will not insure me.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So you can just about guess what I told them they
can do with their insurance !!!!!! Sorry, my car does NOT just sit in a
garage 6 days a week & just go for sunny Sunday afternoon cruises!!!!!!!!!

hi Bob...first, a huge thanks again to you for this
great gathering!...I am writing to echo the good con-
tribution from Dave Hecker, San Jose CC regarding
Ebaymotors.com..all that he says is true and I
would like to make a further recommendation for
Chevy parts buyers and sellers: use an online
service called PayPal.com...you are guaranteed
payment thru that totally reputable middleman and
do not have to risk personal checks, fraudulent
credit cards, etc. in getting paid for what you
sell and you have a quick and immediate way to
remit funds to Ebayers (or also Yahoo!) for something
on which you have submitted a winning bid...

I went to Target today after work, and of course hit the toy isle to
see
what's there. Found a neat preschool '57 chevy, red, with a button on top
to
press for some sounds. Also a '57 GMC panel truck with the Coke logo and
more
on the sides. Also noticed that Johnny Lightning had more Surfer cars, a
'57
primered conv. and a '55/56 chevy p/u in black, both with mini surfboards
in
the back. $3 each. $20 for the GMC, not sure what the pre-school '57 was
selling for, I didn't get it. That's about all for my die cast browsing,

Hi Bob. The story about your son's car damage is right on. As long as your
son is at least less than 51% at fault, the Insurance Co. cannot raise his
rate. Also the way the Insurance Companys work, the owner of the car that
the trash truck hit has to go after the trash truck owners insurance. While
your son would go after the insurance co. of the car that hit him, and that
guy's insurance would go after the trash truck insurance to recover that
payout. Since the middle guy didn't have insurance, you have to go after
your own Co. for Unisured motorist fund which we all pay a portion of.

Bob,
Can someone tell me exactly where to find the vin# on the frame of a 55'? I

found a set of 6 numbers on the outside top of the frame, just behind where

the factory muffler bracket is. But, it doesn't have 55 or a let for the
plant.
- Warren

Editor's note. I have only seen 1VIN number on the frame of a 55. It was
on the driver's side on the frame on top, just to the left of the drivers
seat position. It was very hard to see. You could not see if with just
your naked eye.

Hello Hot Rod Fan or Owner.

Classicrodsales.com is now up and running. This site is FREE for all
HotRod owners and fans. You maybe interested in buying or selling your
Classic/Hotrod for FREE.

Why did I start another car website like this. Well I believe that a
FREE car listing site is a benefit to all Classic and HotRod Car owners
and buyers. In review of a lot of hotrod websites I found that a four
picture displays are needed so the buyer can get a better look at them.

Also a good managed website was needed. Here is an example: I was
looking for a 1932 Ford 5 window coupe. I found hundreds of cars
listed. But when I e-mailed or called the phone number, I found 90%
were sold or no longer for sale. Most of the people who had their
vehicle for sale told me They had no idea that it was still listed or
even how to get the ad off the website. It is was terrible one person
said I am sick and tired of the phone calls he was still getting for
something that was sold six months ago. I have e-mailed and e-mailed
trying to get it off that website.

What features will www.classicrodsales.com have?
1. If you post an ad, we will notify you every week by e-mail that your
ad is still running. In this e-mail you will be linked to the ad edit
section (Example if you think that price is too high., or the ability
to delete the ad.) So a person doesnt bug after you have sold it.
2. All ads will run for thirty days. You can change that setting also.
You just might want to run the ad for 7 days.
3. www.classicrodsales.com will be free. Thats right FREE with
pictures.
4. You will have the ease of adding pictures (four pictures per ad) with
out knowing how to FTP or having a photo hosting site, a nice area for
the text entry, a button to e-mail the seller (with out the e-mail
address shown, which will keep the pay services from Spamming our site
just to get your e-mail address).
5. Pictures will be as easy as copying files on your personal computer.
You will have the choice to add up to four pictures.
6. In the near future a car links site will be added. At the moment we
have 2800 car related links. We are trying to arrange them in
categories, so they will be up soon.

I am a local hotrod club member. I dont like a lot of these sites
that are so called free, in fact I dont like a lot of the pay sites
either. They are to complicated to find what you are looking for. Plus
are they really FREE with pictures? Plus as a benefit I will have a
chance to find a car I can purchase too.

If you are hotrod or classic car shopping, if you are trying to sell
your vehicle, give us a try. This site is new and doesnt have a lot of
ads yet. But with the amount of e-mails I am getting, the word is
getting out. Just like this e-mail you are getting. If you see
services that we need to add then please e-mail us and we will consider
it.

Finally! I will not sell you e-mail address or other information. Your
privacy will be held. But if you wish to be removed and not contacted
again please reply to this e-mail address info@classicrodsales.com.
Please change the subject to Remove.

Thanks
