Re: Check out eBay Motors item 1828076520

Hi Barb & George-
We're really shocked that you are actually selling that little beauty!
You've owned it for so long and done such a great job restoring it. I'm
forwarding this to others across the Country in the hope that someone out
there will buy this fantastic car. Secretly I wish that it would go to
someone local and they'd join our Club. We NEED more nice '56 Chevys like
yours in our L.A. Classic Chevy Club. Seems everyone has a '57, and a few
of us have '55's.

However, whoever buys this car, wherever they may live, I know they'll give
it a good home. It's a classy car for a classy owner.

Hey everyone: For a beautiful 1956 Chevy to buy, please see this Auction:
http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=182807652
0

Good Luck to the new buyer. I can attest that it's a first rate car. I've
seen it in person at many Car Shows in the L.A. area. One of the best
around.

Hi Bob,
I would like to put an add on your next car list. I am looking for a
"higher
caliber" 55 Chev. 210, 2dr.sd. . I would like a laser straight, no rust,
all
done, modified car. Preferably with all the new toys and new trick stuff,
air
, pw , tw,brakes, custom interior, trick paint, air ride, injected
engine, overdrive etc. etc. etc. I want something thats not just a nice 55
Chev. but something thats a cut above and has a few different other little

tricks than all the others at the local get together. I would like to see
if
I can make some kind of a deal with a couple of cars I have now along with
some money. I'm 56 years old and just don't want to take the time to do
another one over myself. I have a 56 Chev.210,2dr sd. that is all original
with only 25000 miles on it. I am the 3rd owner. It is a beautiful car,
needs
nothing. It's a 6cyl. auto. and has the sun visor and I just put a pair of
skirts on it last year. I am not afraid to drive this car anywhere! I just
recently changed the original thermostat and upper rad. hose. It is 2 tone
green with green interior. I also have a 55 ,210 2dr sd which I had plans
on
doing all the things that I just described in the beginning of this ad. It
is
an almost mint body, very straight body with only one coat of paint on it.
I
know the person who owned this car 25 years ago and he stripped it to bare
metal and put the paint on it. It is a 6 cyl. 3 sp. column shift. The
engine
is not running and the car has been in storage for a long time. It needs a
complete do over, but it has no glass (Bondo) in it at all , not in the
quarters, fenders etc. The floors have some rust on them , so I was just
going
to replace them all. I have the pans bought already. They are the same way
they were when my friend done the car 25 yrs ago, because it really has'nt
seen that much use since then. The 2 doors have some pinhole type rust in
the
front corners and thats all. I know some guys just like to build them and
then sell them and I guess that is the person I'm looking for. The only
reason I would get rid of either of these is to get just the one 55 that is

done the way I want it. The 56 is a perfect driver and the 55 is a perfect
car to start a project with, modified or original. Well, thats my story and
I
hope I can get some response from someone. Thanks Bob, and keep up the good

work. My email address and phone number is below.

Hi all

JUst wanted to add my 2 cents regarding the "club' of CCI- yes It is now a
business and isn't 'what it used to be ', but then again- are WE all what
we
used to be?? LOL

When we went down there 2 years ago, Joe Whittaker personally took us on a
1
hour tour of the place and we met EVERYONE who worked there- some of them
even remember me from ordering and calling for tech questions!

Although they have evolved into an organization and not a club, they are
great people >

I bought a pair of front seat belts for a 55 2dr HT. According to the 57
accessory manual, the measurements are 6 1/4" from the side and 10 1/4"
from the rear seat floor board frame. This seems to put it out in the
middle of the area where someone riding in the back seat would be
constantly hitting or tripping over them. I was looking at the
measurements for a 2dr sedan and they seem to put it farther to the front
which would allow the rear passengers more room. Does anybody have pros
and cons or what measurements did you use?
Thanks for the list

Hi Bob,
This is for Ken on installing the cables on his wipers. On my 57, I
assembled them on my bench by securing each transmission with a nail the
correct length from the middle roller assembly. Then, my buddy ran each
transmission through the hole in the fire wall where I took each one, being

under the dash, and placed them in the holes under the windshield. We
secured them in place then popped each one out to the working position. If

you try to string the cables with everything in place in the car, you will

probably consider suicide because the cables fall off, they won't stretch,
and you can't see how to place the cables so the wipers operate correctly,
and you will go nuts like I did. Hope that helps.

Hi Bob,
This is for
Warren concerning CCI and Bow Tie chevy in Orlando. We went down to
Orlando
from Port Orchard, Washington for a week. Both my buddy and I had been
members of CCI for many years and Bow Tie Chevy since it was started. We
are
both in our 60's and had our wives with us. We stopped at CCI, they
wouldn't
give us the time of day. I asked a guy there where Bow tie chevy was
located
and said he didn't know. The receptionist, after this dude had gone, told
us
it was right down the road from CCI. We went down to Bow tie and was
greeted
by Robert Snowden and Danny Howell. They were both glad to see us,
especially since we had traveled 3000 miles to their shop. We spent over
two
hours with them, got a complete tour and went away feeling good. We never
re-upped on our CCI subscriptions and never will. The people at Bow
tie/Late
Great chevy were great. Thought I would throw my 2 cents in.

Fred: Bow Tie is having a show along with our sister organizations in
Nashville June 28-29 at the Maxwell House Hotel. This show is different
than our usual ones. Since the international show is in Vancouver, BC, and

a lot of people won't be able to go that far, we wanted to do something
that is more in the middle of the country so we don't lose contact with our

members. So the state associates decided we could put on a
"mini-show". It will basically just be the car show because there is no
local club sponsoring it to do a lot of the things we usually do. You
don't have to be a member to attend, but you do have to preregister if you
want to be in the 1000 pt show since it is shorter than the usual show and
we won't have time to pre-classify everybody on the spot. Friday will be
registration, classification, and photos. There will be a pool side social

with music at 8 pm instead of a dance. 1000 pt judging will start Sat at
8, with winners announced at 5. You can register in the 100 pt Governor's
(driver's) class until 10 Sat. Hotel information and contact info for Bow
Tie are on the web site at www.lategreatchevy.com. Hope we see your car at

the show. We love seeing those low mileage original cars to see what they
really looked like. Since we're the Kansas associates, we will be helping
with the show, so look us up if you come.

Warren: We don't have any houses, but I'm sure if you go to headquarters
you can get a tour. We were surprised that Danny remembered us after all
those years from just a few brief encounters during his CCCI days. They
have more of the philosophy that Doug had of wanting to meet the members
and do what they can within reason for them. They are one of us. They own

and know these cars, and have done a lot of work on them. Denny's articles

on modifications when he was with CCCI were tremendously helpful in
building our car. The members of this list seem to be the kind of people
that are members of Bow Tie. The people are as important as the cars, and
we enjoy sharing our experiences with other members. Glenn

Fred,

Good to hear you finally found someone for your Buick, and got the
tri-five you have been wanting.
Regarding power steering and upgrades: On the open road you will likely
feel you just need the radio. There are radios which will fit in the
original spot, Custom Auto Sound www.custom-autosound.com and others
sell them, but you would have to remove the delete plate. I understand
from others that the radio quality is only average, but I think that is
to be expected when it fitting into a stock location, and not hidden.
The sky is the limit with how nice a stereo you can put it, if you hide
it in the trunk or under the seat. (I'd avoid the glove box and use a
remote, to control the radio if you don't want to just put it in the
dash. Just my opinion.) If you are going to drive the car a lot, there
are two modifications that are worth while. There are other good ones
too but you didn't ask how to modify your car.

Power Steering, and Power Brakes. Steering is number one. If you have
any doubt, imagine you take it to a show or anywhere, and space is
tight, challenge yourself to park it in some awkward spots or do a
couple of 6 point turns. Many times, at shows or events, in an effort
to keep my car out of harms way (other peoples opening doors) or
traffic, I have chosen to parallel park my car between some object such
as planters, benches, or even other cars. When driving around shows I
tend to give my self less room to maneuver, and keep my distance from
other cars, so no other car owners don't get too nervous that someone is
maneuvering real close to their pride and joy. I also tend to back into
a lot of show spaces so the viewers see the front of my car. Driving
the car with the manual steering may seem fine, and maneuvering may not
seem difficult either, but try doing them in a tight spot. Trying to
steer lock to lock without having space to roll the car while turning
the wheel is a real workout. It's more enjoyable feeling it's no
problem to park it in whatever nice spot you find rather than hunting
for one that is easy to get in and out of, and still displays you car
well.

You didn't mention brakes, but these cars are heavy, the drums stop
slower, and not as straight as modern power disc brakes. You can get by
with the manual drum brakes, but be more careful than if you are driving
a modern car. The power disc brake upgrade is also popular, and makes
avoiding some of the idiots on the road easier and safer.

With only 38K miles, your car needs someone to enjoy it. I encourage
you to use it as it was intended, drive it and enjoy it.

Thanks,

Dave Hecker

John at BRCC is one of the nicest people that you will ever do business

have a lot of NOS stuff. Recently he supplied me with NOS shafts for my
control arms on my 1955 chev. While some of my suppliers have silently
raised prices he continues to under sell everyone else with the same
products, or even better with NOS chev stuff. He went around for years and
bought out chevy dealerships to get the volume of stuff he got.
Give him a call and tell him you got his number from me. For the tally

because he supplied me with the new control arm shafts when no one else
could.

something I thought
everyone should know about. I live in Kansas. I inherited a car that was
in Banning California. I
had never been to California and I had no idea where Banning was. I ask
Bob if he could help.

He told me where Banning was and what airport to fly into. Bob met me at
the airport and took
me to Banning to get the car. I planned to drive it back to Kansas. I
told Bob I was not sure of
the condition of the car and whether it wold make the trip to Kansas. He
took me to a garage

How is that for a club where the membership dues are ZERO. Thanks again
