To whom it may concern:
I am writing from Las Vegas, NV in regards to a 1955 Nomad that we had
stolen out of our auto shop. (Even though it was at our business, it was
our
personal car.) It is in excellent shape and it's red. As you can imagine,
this car means the world to us. If you happen to come across any parts or a
1955 red Nomad that seems suspicious, please, please contact us. Our email

Greetings, Bob,

Have had several e-Mails regarding The Beach Boys exhibit for the National
Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Also, the tribute/remembrance we're
putting together for Corvette owner, and Beach Boys drummer/founding
member,
Dennis Wilson, who passed away in a swimming accident on December 28, 1983.

If your readers wish to contribute to the fund, please contact me by e-mail

or phone as soon as possible. I am meeting with Andy and/or Wendell, at the

museum, next week.

Thanks for your support! We are about 80% to 85% completed as to funding.

Can anyone out there help me ID this inline-six engine?
It's in a 55 chevy truck I'm pondering buying.
On the sparkplug side of the engine block up high near the
head are the #'s 848 and below that 850.
On the intake side of the block is 6(space)431.
On the intake side of the head is 3836848, and below that
(still on the head) GM 28.
Any thoughts/ info/ guesses?

Hello Bob

A question for list members:

My '57 210 was parked in the garage in 1979.
It has not been started or moved since then. I'd like
to know what steps I should take before attempting to start
the car. It has a 283 and ran pretty well when it was parked.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

Bob in Chico. Hi I have had much success in pulling the plugs out of an
engine after pulling it and squirting Marvel Mystery Oil down in the
combustion chambers then turning engine over by hand. This will keep rings
from sticking up. Also I do not clean the grease (but do keep dirt out of
motor..use your judgement) off motor it will keep it from getting rusty,
(of
course I am in Seattle). I then give it an extra shot of mystery oil put
plugs back in and then wrap the whole thing in Saran Wrap. I usually change

engine oil before I pull it. Old timers used to coat entire motorcycles in
oil for storage to keep the rust away and it works on engines too but I
don't
do that. Before firing up a motor after storage I clean outside real good,
pull plugs, squirt in some mystery oil turn over by hand (no plugs) put in
new plugs and fire away. The stuff is great. Hope it works out-Randy "BB

Bob McNulty,
Although not the highest quality, Harbor Freight Tools offers an
engine
dolly on wheels for $40. Probably suitable for your needs.
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=38753
Alternatively, Wizard Auto in Pleasanton offers a very robust dolly
for
$160 that has an optional transmission stand to hold the whole assembly.
http://home.att.net/~wizardauto/wate.htm
I have seen several cases where and engine was set on top of a
couple
of truck tires. Not pretty, but effective.

Cliffs Classic Chevrolet in Portland replaces mirrors for both
outside
& inside mirrors. I think they will restore the mirror if you request
it. The glass is important to the functionality of the day/nite
function, it is specially ground. Don't break it! It is hard to find.

Would just like to relay this on to your Tri-Five group.
I'm looking to trade a 1975 Corvette with 45,000 original miles for a nice
fifty-five chevy two door post. (Original or modified)
The corvette is an all matching number car except paint. This car is a very

good driving car and very dependable. There has been no modification to
this
car at all except the L-82 finned valve covers that I put on and BTW still
have the originals. This car still even retains the working original AM/FM
radio. If interested contact Steve at smk4949@aol.com
Thanks bob for you time and trouble and a great 55-57 list that I have been
a
part of for over three years or more

Hi. This is about California vehicle taxes. Has there been an update?
Has the governor signed the legislation?

As I recall, there were 3 main things pending: 1) annual tax of
$3,000-$4,000, per vehicle on SUV's and minivans; 2) 50-cent increase on
state tax of gasoline; 3) mileage tax.

Thanks, Jim Wheeler, Tucson, AZ, 56Chevrolet@msn.com

Editor's note. The governor has signed the legislation I think you are
referring to. To be fair, it doesn't contain the three parts listed above.

Rock and Roll grows older

Paul Simon-"Fifty Ways to Lose Your Liver"
Carly Simon-"You're So Varicose Vein"
