Hey bob

Thanks for the information about the LACCC car show. As you predicted, it
was great. At tip of my hat to the people that ran the raffle. That is a
great way to do it. Also I really liked the red and white 57 2 dr hardtop
owned by Peggy and Bruce ( I forgot their last name). That was one
beautiful car.

Can someone tell me how that band knew all of those songs that were older
than the band members.

I am also happy that they used M.A.D.D as the charity. I was almost killed
by a drunk driver many years ago at a drive in theatre. I went to the
snack bar and some drunk drove into the snack bar and destroyed it. The
crash sent the machine that made "Sno Cones" on my leg and broke it. I was
one lucky dude. As is usual in these cases, the drunk was not hurt.

Did that car with the surf boards on top come from the factory with the
wood on it? Was the wood on the side an option?

Editor's note. I think the car you are talking about is a one of a kind
BelWood owned by Bob Barns.

HI all:
I know this isn't 55-57 related but a good friend of mine (who some of you
may know from the EAST COAST) SCHLOS, was hit by a driver in MA,and he
decked his 1960 Chevy Sedan Delivery
(yes we Know there were only 1300 made )

He is in DIRE need of the following parts to repair the vehicle:
hood
Front bumper
Rear bumper
Grill
Core Support
L quarter panel

You can also interchange the parts with a stock 1960 Belair sedan.
Anyone out in cyberworld who has some of this stuff or know where he can
pick it up,please contact me ASAP!!!
(or you may contact him directly at glassart@rcn.com)

SCHLOS is a well known and respected glass artwork designer around here-
almost anyone who HAS glass art on the East Coast, has HIS artwork. Can
someone help him out and step up to the plate?

Hello

I am a resident of the U.K. and an American car owner. I have a 1972 Chevy
Caprice Classic Convertible. I need to replace the chrome door mirrors on
both passenger & drivers side. Drivers side is remote, passenger side
isn't!

Please can you recommend a possible source to supply these items in an 'As
New' condition.

I am also trying to locate a quality period radio for my 72 Chevy. Would
you happen to know of any place I might be able to source such an item?-

At this time, the car is fitted with a modern stereo unit, and is mounted
under the dash. This would be the intended place for the period radio. and
assume this would have been where the original radio would have been
fitted. Would you say this would be correct?

Many thanks for any information and assistance you can give me.

Bye for now.

William,

Regarding your post about rotating hub caps. This topic has been posted
a couple other times on the Bob Ford list, and the best suggestion I
have seen was to use a bit of silicone in a couple of places to keep the
hubcap from turning. Essentially gluing it in place. Less is better
since you want to get the cap off again. Two or three spots should be
sufficient. The original author advised, to not put silicone sealant
all the way around the hubcap. I personally have not tried this but I
thought I would pass it on.

Hi Bob,

Regarding the following question from Ginny about Nomad tailgates: Cliff
and
I had a '56 Nomad and had no problems with the tailgate, but we treated it
as
if it was fine crystal. We never slammed it and never allowed heavy
weights
on it. If I remember, we lowered the top of the tailgate first, then
raised
the bottom, then gently pushed both closed together. We always hand-washed

the Nomad, if it got washed at all. Usually it was kept covered when not
being shown and driven. Then it was "spot-cleaned."

I don't think the tailgates can take rough usage, but work just fine if
treated well. Does this help?

For Jeff Wilson regarding the column shift pattern. What you have now is
correct. I have only heard of the other way. Never seen it. My guess is
that
someone had the linkage on backwards somehow.

Hi Bob and Fellow car nuts,

You have not heard from me for a while, but I have been reading the list.

Gary Knight asked about cleaning the '57 inserts. If some one has a good
suggestion, I am also interested.

Bobby Jefcoat was asking about "Flow Cooler" water pump and
thermostat....here
again, I am also interested.

Don't remember who asked about the Nomad taigate, but yea, they tend to
leak.
This was very poor engineering. A simple way to explain why is think of a
house roof.....water is shed by running over the shingles which are
overlapped. Now look at a Nomad tailgate....the design is opposite. The
upper gate tucks inside the lower gate instead of overlaping it. Thus
water
collects around the tailgates and finds its way inside. Good seals and
proper
adjustment helps, but they still leak. The only major flaw in one of the
best
looking cars on the road. Our Nomad draws a lot of attention where ever we
go...especially from the ladies. I have had a gal offer to trade her SUV
for
mine. No thanks!

Hi Bob:
Thanks again for the list.
This is for Fred Vail, and anyone else interested.
The Good Guys have their West Coast National Show at the fair grounds in
Pleasanton 8/22-25...about 1 1/2 hours south of Sacramento via Highway
80 and then 680 to the Bernal exit. A really great show with hundreds of
top street rods, swap meet, vendors, and car sale corral. I hope to have
my '40 f..d (Chevy powered) there Sunday.
For classic dealer try Kassabian Classics in Dublin, right across the
freeway from Pleasanton. Their number is 925 829 2825.
Have a great trip.

in response to BJ's water pump question, I use the old trick of cutting
out
a circle in a piece of galvanized sheet metal the same size as the
propeller
of the water pump.then drill 3-4 holes thru the circle into the
propellers.then fasten with aluminum rivets.this trick turns the propeller
into a "water wheel" and moves more water. if your are not the handy type
you can buy the circle adapter from Summit Racing for 6.99. It's a lot
cheaper
then 100 bucks for a flo-kooler pump.
