I'm putting a stock, original steering wheel back on my '57, and I'm having an issue with the horn contact.
I'm guessing the belleville spring I have is an original. It has three large holes and six smaller holes (no slots).
The larger holes are for the three legged plastic insulated horn ring mounting part.
The smaller holes don't appear to be functional.
There appears to be two different types of the insulated spring-loaded horn contacts I've seen in pictures.
The one I have has a small brass colored contact that is a simple cylinder that sticks out of the top when it's installed.
It looks fairly new, but I don't know its origin.
The other type I've seen online has a larger flat end, as if the contact had a thin washer fixed to the upper end:

The problem I have is that the brass plunger slips through one of the six smaller holes in the belleville spring, so it doesn't make proper contact with it.
A larger contact, such as the one I've seen online might make it work correctly.
To avoid spending $30, I could just solder on a thin copper washer, but that wouldn't match the original part.
Does anyone have more definitive information that would help?
