Hadn't really ever thought about it, until someone on the Stovebolt old Chevy truck forum was asking how to have daytime running lights, so I came up with this simple circuit using one relay with 2 normally open contacts, and one normally closed. With an ignition on circuit the headlights are wired in series with 6 volts, and half the power. When the headlight switch turns on it energizes the relay, and connects the headlights in parallel at full power. Daytime lights are on almost any vehicle anymore. I drew this in a ladder diagram schematic which I learned from years of working on production machines is the easiest to understand, and the way I wish my washing machine schematic was drawn.
