Well, we made it back from the TriFive Nationals once again... we DID NOT win the Giveway car, but it was very nice (first one I would have made room in my garage for!).. :) Didn't win the 50/50 pot either (but a fella from Tennessee won over $15K on Saturday evening! The Friday 50/50 pot was over $8K I heard...

They reported that 2752 TriFives registered and came thru the gates; a bit down from last year, and significantly less than what was expected, but the QUALITY of the high end cars were HIGHER than ever! There must have been 200-300 cars that could have easily made the Top 25 list! I think the high probabiliy of rain predicted held the numbers down, but it only rained Thursday around noon and a bit Thursday night, and again on Saturday night (a couple of showers between 5-6 pm as they were doing the awards and drawings).

My Nomad made it on it's own the 375 miles or so (round trip) without incident, even with the 1000 lbs of meat(heads) I transported into the event on Saturday! (Can I say that my Nomad is a 'half ton' Nomad now?).. :)

We were there with our fresh 57. I saw your car at the hotel.

Well... why didn't you yell at me? :) I'd like to have met you!

How did you like the event?

We've been every year, and I'm always impressed by the quality of the cars. I grew up near Bowling Green, and still have family I can stay with.

The coolest thing I saw was watching the gassers run. They were mostly stuck in the 10's and 11's, then Greg Porter in the Night Stalker lays down an 8 second pass. That was impressive.

Didn't I hear the announcer on Saturday evening saying that someone run a sub 7 second quarter?? Was it Lutz again? :)

Sounds like fun, maybe I can make it out one day :)

Lutz was "no time". He doesn't want anyone to know how fast he is.

I think it was the red Pro-Mod 55 that ran in the 6's, against the 57 Funny Car.

I hope I can make it next year, new to retirement, still trying to figure that out. Hope to have the 56 on the road any day now........

Bama, that is a really pretty Nomad. I plan on making up to Bowling Green in a couple years.

I don't think you will regret making the trip! I'm close enough to go each year, but if I was further away, I'd for sure make effort to go at least once..

Thanks for your comments; it's a driver, but it's driving better and better the more little problems I fix.. :) (A new paint job is desired, but at least this one is protecting the metal, and I have others needing paint worse!).. :)

The trip is well worth the effort. No matter what trifive style you like, you'll see a number of examples, from survivors looking like they're just out of the field to meticulously restored/modified vehicles. This was the second year I've been there and thoroughly enjoyed it, and was lucky enough to display our 56 with the Wilwood guys. We're looking forward to next year!

Too bad this event does not travel around to other parts of country.

Too bad this event does not travel around to other parts of country.

You're right; moving it around would make the event more accessible for more people, BUT... Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green is perhaps the BEST location for a car show in the country with a drag strip on site.. I've been all over the country to car shows and Beech Bend has always been my favorite locale going back to the 'Corvette Homecomings' they used to have every June back in the '70's-80-'s. You should try to attend at least once, who knows how long it will survive... even if you don't/can't drive your trifive, you'll have fun~! :)

I took very few photos, Sid... and mostly mine are 'Nomad-centric'... Nomads I've never seen before mostly... and there were so many people taking more and better photos than I, I didn't bother much. Here are a few from the 'Custom Car display at the Sloan convention Center'... :)

Some more... The white '56 Nomad was the People's Choice winner (custom category) at the Omaha Nomad Convention...

a few more... First time for me seeing a ''57 Chevy T-bucket!'... :) and a really fancy 'broom stick' holding up the hood of the orange/gray custom '55 Nomad! :)

And a few from the parking lot (Thursday afternoon)...

1) The dusk rose '55 had some damage incurred during it's trip to the Nationals.
2) The mint green '57 got my attention due to the color/color scheme inc the interior. Someone told me the color and the interior material was from '59 Chevrolet pallet.

Some more from Thursday afternoon at the show hotel... including Davlin's custom '55-6 suburban with extremely nice interior (He's an interior man, but he's also building a '56 Nomad completely for one of his friends who was also there (Arlen Corp); they drove this suburban from Vancouver Island (2700 miles?).
... and a few more Nomads...

And... lest I leave out the sedans, here are a couple of photos of a friends (Bill/Donna Leming) ' recently completed '55 sedan with also a very nice custom leather interior and an 'updated' custom old school look treatment to his LS3 engine!
